Like the Celtic the year the had a #5 pick and didn't use theirs? I seem to remember they made it to the finals twice and won a title. Blazers were in mediocre hell for 6 straight years and they made it to the wcf twice there after. You act like rebuilding or making a winner is only possible with high draft picks.

No, I act like I understand what the new CBA is going to do to small market teams with owners who won't/can't break the bank trying to compete for a title and what the most viable path going forward probably is ... there are zero guarantees with any plan, but some plans have a higher hit rate than others.
Expecting this team to luck into three 30-something future hall-of-famers doesn't seem especially likely, outspending the league seems even less likely with Paul Allen nowadays and collecting high profile free-agents like Miami even less likely than that. Two potential lotto picks in a great draft added to LaMarcus and Nicolas and hopefully a decent free agent or two this summer? That seems reasonable.

Actually trading picks for solid younger vets seems even more logical.
What if we traded jerseys pick for a rondo? Then maybe re-sign hickson, then grab a free agent "probably a 6th man" role player?
Starting 5: rondo, Matthews, Batum, Aldridge and hickson? That's all younger players but already established most their game. And we've all been witnessed to blown picks. Shit we have 2 top 4 picks on our team. We had oden too. So yeah if there was an opportunity to do something like this then I think it's better than a #4 and a high teen pick. Sorry to disagree with you nik.

The trouble with your plan is that it's so specific to one player and we have no idea what Boston actually wants. Is that even realistic? And maybe more importantly does adding a headcase point who can't shoot really provide the missing piece? I'm extremely dubious.

I'm giving one example. Obviously there are many younger vets we can try and bring in as well. Hell we can resign Flynn and sign Nash for 12 per for 3 years. Nash starts and Flynn learns for one of the best PGs in the game. Then we could use new jerseys pick and cap space to bring in another vet like josh smith, Jason terry or shit maybe for igs.
