What kind of fan...

It's always interesting when Baseball (my first love also) coincides with the Blazers in the playoffs... I have the MLB package this year (best of all sports, IMO) and love to just have baseball on as much as possible. But the feeling between the two sports (watching wise) is so different viewing wise... you have to pay so much attention in basketball, where as baseball is such an easy-going sport to follow.

Agreed. My favorite is that transitional season when the Blazers are still playing (i.e. in the playoffs) and I watch baseball and basketball. But you are right, the MLB package is sweet. I'll turn on a game (if the Giants aren't on at the moment, any other game with quality teams), open up some windows, and take care of whatever needs to be done around the house, taking time to relax and watch the game. Some days, I'll sit and relax and watch all day. We had a large deck built in the fall - I'm looking forward to relaxing out there and watching some games.

Funny. I was going to say the same about your posts. It helped that I quoted it. (I'm kidding, FAMS.)

Baseball in a legit baseball town...... nothing better.... Warm, sunny day. Baseball on the field. Brat in one hand, beer in the other. Spring/Summer time. Outdoors.

Now theres a sentiment I can get behind.

That does sound good, but not because of the baseball. Couldn't baseball be replaced with any outdoor activity in that scenario?

I mean cause I do that same thing but with basketball.

You guys like baseball more than basketball?

That was funny. That picture should be reused often, like the double facepalm one. Anyone got that archived?

baseball is amazing, these youngins got the adhd and cant appreciate summers subtle art, the soft crecendo of appreciable tension. they just want the climax

but many a simple wonder doth beguile the artless eye

Show me where the outdoor basketball is and I'm there.

I forgot the "smell of the grass". You can't beat that, except if you're at a game in SF. Talk about efficiency - you get the smell of multiple grasses.

I'm tired of having to spread rep around this board just so I can rep one of the few that are actually worthy. Sorry FAMS.

I do the same thing on my deck, watching birds flitter about. And the beers and hotdogs aren't $9 each.

The "waiting for the other shoe to drop" fan. That's me.

That there just sounds boring when you could be at a game.

But I do the same thing, too, when I can't be at a game. And maybe move a TV outside or bring a tablet out and watch mlbtv.com.

A baseball game doesn't help much with the boredom factor.

I forgot you're old, so I should have been thinking about PLAYING the sport, which I was. There are four parks in Tualatin with basketball and baseball courts.. And that way you can actually do something instead of just sit around.

Even if I was rich, I wouldn't waste money on a baseball game.. Sitting around drinking beer and eating hot dogs that cost 3x too much.. No thanks. Like BBert said, I can do that anywhere, for cheaper, with better activities to accompany it.

Baseball is an art, kind of a chess game if you will. Very few people who haven't played it at a decently high level never understand how to appreciate it.

Nah, I actually enjoy the ambiance at baseball games. Used to go to the occasional single A game in Eugene when I was in college.

You can get into strategy when you sit next to the infield. The outfield stands are there for drinking. Even binoculars don't help.

Well said! Baseball is a pure sport as are basketball and tennis. Offense, defense, great sports. I started with baseball and love it to this day. (except that stupid conference where the pitchers don't bat!)
