I am registered independent but I lean more toward the Democrat side.

Re-registered as a Republican so I could vote in GOP primaries.

I switched from independent to Libertarian Party before the 2012 election

The Constitution party. If you believe your rights come from God so there is no need to beg for them from anyone and you can defend the Constitution as having the correct answer anytime the question arises, then you are in my party.

The politician closest to this view I believe would be Rand Paul

I have been an R, but the bs vote hunt going on now in the GOP has me looking elsewhere. I expect to switch to who ever is the most reasonable I or L, or if obama trys to retain power, I will be in the resistance movement

What do you mean by vote hunt? Not tryng to be a dick or anything. Unsure what you mean, just. Bastardizing their views just to get votes?

Not registered with a party, which is nice to avoid annoying phone calls often come election times.

I'm registered Republican, but I also often throw my vote away for the Constitution party candidates.

My wife got angry with me the year that Merkley beat Smith for Senate, because the Constitution Party guy for whom I voted (Brownlow) got more votes than the difference between Merkley and Smith. Somehow, it was my fault that he "stole" enough of Smith's votes to allow Merkley to win the election.

Registered democrat in 20's and early 30's. Reregistered to republican in early 30's to early 40's. Reregistered to independent in early 40's and have blissfully remained. Tend to lean left with respect to the environment and foreign affairs (especially with Thai women) and right for US economy and judicial issues.

I have actually met Merkley and he is a very impressive person. But the problem I have with him is that Smith was the senator from Oregon. He really looked out for people's issues outside of Multnomah County. Merkly is the senator from Multnomah County. I like the balance of having a US Senator representing all the interests in the state. Since I always vote for Wyden, I like to see a republican in there as well.

Yeah, I voted for Smith. Merkley is always on the wrong side of an issue relative to me.
