Scoring, rebounding and assists.

Do we want a scoring SF?

A defensive/rebounding SF?

Play making assist SF?

What type of SF best fits this team?

In the playoffs Batum averaged:

14.4 points per game.

8.6 rebounds per game.

5.2 assists per game.

That's not bad. Actually it's pretty good. I'd be happy with a SF that averaged 15/10/5 during the regular season.

Can Batum do that? Who is available that can?

Batum was #2 in the NBA in assists by SFs and #1 by a long shot in fewest turnovers per assist.

consistent effort.

I'm happy with that.

When your point guard's main strength is scoring, you need another player to have PG-like skills. Much as I love him, that's not Wesley. And CJ's also primarily a scorer.

Batum seemed to regress a bit with his handles and won't drive into traffic. We also didn't get as many flying dunks this year (it seemed to me) or chase-down blocks. I hope the rest will do him good.

15-7-5 and i am a Batum believer again but i just don't think you will see it again any time soon. He will be playing for France this summer because the Euro Championships are in France and he will be playing again next summer for the Olympics. I would not even try to tell him he can't play for his country so you pretty much need to expect that he will not improve for 2 years.
What i would want out of him is a summer where he works on his game but he won't, and we have not seen that in years. There is plenty of places he could improve but he fills his summer up and then in what small amount of time that is left he must rest. This is the Nic Batum that everyone said had so much "Potential". The years were there is potential to improve are quickly disappearing and what will you have left? You will have a injury prone soft Euro player that likes to impact a game only when he feels like it and in the ways only he wants to do it.

Sorry but my patience with Nic Batum has come to an end. If they keep him another year i will hope and wish him the best. I will always root for him as long as he is wearing a Blazers uniform but if they trade him i will simply...Wish him well.

Honestly all I want from Batum is lock down D to end quarters and for him to make his open shots. Everything else is just gravy.

Do you have his stats for the first three games?

IIRC, Batum was our best most consistent player over the course of the first three, then shot poorly in the last two.

Meanwhile Dame shot poorly the first three games, CJ the first two, and Lamarcus all five.

But by all means let's dump Batum for a can of Pringles.

For the good of the team.

Batum is playing 12 games starting in September. He'll have all of May, June, July and most of August to rest and work on his game.

I just want him to be healthy and rested. Same thing I want for all of our players. If they are, we are blessed with a damn good team.

God I hate international competition.

What SFs do you think we could sign or trade for this offseason that could give us those numbers?
Like i said if we got those numbers again i would be a Batum Believer again. But i just don't see it happening. I personally think the Blazers should go after Dekker in the draft and let him take Nics place.

I want Nico next season, his contract year and I hope he leads the NBA in triple doubles. I just want him playing fewer minutes.

If he is leading the league in triple doubles you don't want him playing fewer minutes do you?

No he is playing more than that. They have the preliminary rounds

I included the prelims. That's in the schedule I posted. Warmup games I didn't post because I couldn't find them.

My goodness, that sounds pretty good. Just think what he will do when his wrist heals. Perhaps his passes will be more on the mark, maybe even shoot that three ball well again.

Nic's exit interview he said the staff had a 3 month program for him already laid out with film. I'm pretty sure the organization has pinpointed details he needs to work on. I'm a huge fan of his game. He's also only 1 year older than Damian. His career is just getting started

consistent effort.

!!!! :)

If LaMarcus and Damian are on the team; 35% or better 3pt shooting along with solid defense. Anything else is a bonus.

Need more players with uncertain futures obviously.

I will say I'm fine with Batum playing out his contract to the all-star break w/ the Blazers.
Players play better in contract years and all. If he plays well. Let him stay, if not... well.

Yes I went full BGD
