Al, beuk didn't say anything after the 2012 season so he didn't think he was ready then. Another season and he saw the progress made that will enable him to make the jump next season imo. I'm more than ready to see the big boy up here already. If he does come he will make his share of rookie mistakes but he will also do his share of terrorizing the opposition which is something we've needed on the back line for a long time.

I don't disagree that he is needed and will make rookie mistakes and that is to be expected. All I am saying is that Beuk has been coaching for, 2 years? I know he was a stellar stay at home defenseman, but he risks credibility if Dylan comes up to be a bust and he gave the thumbs up.

Al, you may not know this but before beuk came to ct. he was asst coach for 3 yrs with suds bury of ohl, 1 yr with colts in oil and 1 yr with toronto in ohl so not his first rodeo. How do I know this? Besides being a friggin genius I looked it up! Ha ha ha ha. In Beuk we trust!!!!

So McIlrath spends the last year of his contract in the minors and then what? Resign him for a few more years of development? The same with Allen, Miller & Lindberg? The Rangers need help offensively, Klein had 9 points in 77 games and was a -7, crap his best year he's scored 4 goals, that's not steady it's garbage. His smallness makes him inept physically as well and not worth $1.45 let alone $2.9. Allen or McIlrath are much more viable options at a third of the cap hit. If they shit the bed then Sather can pass on resigning them.

Stralman and his 13 points in 81 games is an even worse option for over $4 mil. The notion that his 5'11" 190 lb ass deserves a big payday because he threw a couple of hip checks is insane, 3 years/$3 mil was too generous on Sather's part. Step away from the table Glen and don't look back.

John Moore is worth giving a shot because he's 23 and showed some glimpses offensively, shouldn't cost much to bring him back though he needs to step it up physically.

I disagree about Kreider 31, the guy began his career in the playoffs and scored 5 goals tying him with Gabby for second in goals scored that postseason. Then he became one of Torts whipping boys in the strike season followed by AV playing mind games to start this past season. Says a lot when a guy can play through that bullshit and has to play the game gently to avoid the wrath of the refs. Looks like Glen scored with his pick.

The hardest thing for a player to learn is adjusting to the speed and physicality of the NHL. Nothing in the AHL can teach that. I'm all for giving Allen, McIlrath, Miller & Lindberg a shot over overpaying for a center or dman. Nothing motivates a player like the final year of a contract.

Panzer dont you think krieder has to look at himself, mind games? Two different coaches sent him down and his own college coach disnt have him on their top two lines. Perhaps there is more to the story.

Some 1st rounders just turn out to be a bust, it happens..just alot more under the MSG roof.lol In all seriousness he may turn out to be a servicable dman who can pound people, but the fact is he was grossly overdrafted based on how much crafting he needs to get here. Hopefully he works out but his skating needs to get to an NHL level. They certainly could use some toughness on D since Wimprardi and Staal get pushed around alot.

Al I don't doubt that the guy is a prick and was probably an immature diva too but he can play hockey and an offensively starved team like the Rangers needs CK's speed and ability. I think after this year it's a moot point anyway and I think if he gets a full season he'll likely lead the team in scoring and give the Rangers a much needed physical presence. Torts struck me as jealous of CK and felt he had to earn his spot despite a promising start and I think AV might have had some of the same feelings when he took the reigns. Every other organization in the NHL gets their first rounders worked into the lineup within a year, worst case 2.

For the record, Klein was a + 7 in the playoffs over 25 games, not a - 7, which was 2nd best on the team after Pouliot. And was a + 4 during the regular season with the Rangers. I like Klein and think he is a solid 4/5 dman.

I agree on McIlrath panzer. We should play him this season, at least to start and see what he can do. Now is the time to give him a real shot to start with and see where it goes. He has had enough seasoning in the minors, let him play early and see if he can handle it.

The interesting thing are the numbers on D and how he fits in. McD/Girardi, Staal/Stralman?, Klein/Moore. So unless they let Stralman go and don't sign anyone to replace him, that D is pretty full. No open spots for a guy like McIlrath or Allen. I am NOT in favor of giving Stralman 4 mill per season, so I wouldn't have an issue letting him walk, and if the powers that be deem him ready plug McIlrath in and see if he can be that big physical dman we badly need.

Upfront, I would like to give a kid a shot also, and expect that if Boyle goes elsewhere there could be a spot for a kid like Lindberg to C the 4th line. I would have no issue with that.

Sprinkle in a kid or two this season, that is cool. I just doubt it is more than two because that is not really what we do usually. I would be very surprised if we didn't add a big C to replace Richards. Outside of that I have no issue with a kid upfront and on D starting the season with the big club and getting some minutes.

As for Kreider I think some resoponsibility is on him for sure, but I also think Torts wasn't a big fan for whatever reason (and maybe he had reason not to be a fan because of something Kreider was or wasn't doing). Then AV took over and I think he wanted to show Kreider how he had to play and act if he wanted to be a pro. I also think this may have validated some of what Torts felt towards CK. But whatever button AV pushed worked, because CK had a very solid season and showed his worth to the team, especially when he came back in the playoffs. I expect 20 + from Kreider this season. He is an exciting player to watch, no doubt.

Miller and Lindberg should play in place of Boyle (most likely gone to a high bidder), Dorsett/Carcillo (both way too small to be taken seriously as enforcers and both with limited scoring ability). It's a simple step to upgrading the offense. Klein's a career -23 so kudos to him for improving that number this year, doesn't change the fact that he can't score, is a turnover machine and is less physical than Zuccarello, hope Glen moves him, he doesn't fit AV's up tempo offense. The Rangers are not going to have a ton of cap space to sign a big name once Glen resigns a few of the free agents he needs back. I would also be curious if any team has an interest in Staal, he's in his last year and is going to want at least Girardi dollars, don't know if he's worth that.

I bet the Rangers give Dan Boyle 2/8m with the Strahlman money. Part of me wants Boyle for the PP I just dont think he is very good even strength Dman anymore though

Let's notify Sather that Beukeboom's opinion on Dylan being ready is wrong b/c Eyes/Caged saw him in 6gms and wasn't impressed.

Guarrantee there will be a lot of bitchin on this board. Mac needs more time
in the AHL. He could be a call up into the season.
Oh BTW, NYR31 you can call Sather since you have inside info.
