My shipping date has now moved up to mid October. Still longer than I want to wait, but much better than mid November!!!

As long as you get it by Christmas, right?

Mystery of the cancer cluster killing Chinese workers at factory that makes new iPhone 6

Apple is investigating its supply chain after the discovery of a disturbing cluster of leukaemia deaths among young workers at a factory in China where millions of its iPhones are made, The Mail on Sunday has learnt.
At least 13 workers in their late teens and early 20s have been diagnosed with leukaemia after falling sick at the massive factory in Shenzhen since 2010. Five have died – and at ages when doctors say cases of the blood cancer are rare.

iDoubtIt

#GetIt?

To put that ins to perspective, if they make $100 per phone in profit, they just earned 400 mil in 24 hours.

Many suggest they will sell at least 80 mil before the year's out. That's 8 billion in profit for 3 months

I decided to get the 6, not the Plus. The 6 Plus makes no sense to me.

I really wanted the 6 only, but I'm a fan of getting the top of the line. It's a stupid way of thinking, but I can't stop being stupid

Apple to reportedly net 15 cents for every $100 Apple Pay transaction

By: Mikey Campbell

Details of Apple's upcoming Apple Pay mobile payments system are starting to emerge, with a report on Friday claiming the company will garner 15 cents on a $100 purchase, more than Google managed for its Google Wallet initiative.

According to sources familiar with Apple's banking and credit card arrangements, Cupertino will get a 0.15 percent cut of every Apple Pay transaction conducted over NFC, the Financial Times reports.

The new information adds to a previous report that noted Apple will collect fees from banks for customer purchases. What those fees were, exactly, was unknown at the time.

In an in-depth overview of Apple Pay published yesterday, it was reported that Apple's banking and credit card network partners are willing to offer lower per-transaction fees thanks in large part to the technology's integration. For example, despite being a "no card present" touch-less solution, Apple Pay will be charged at rates below even "card present" tiers, a major discount competing wireless payment makers were unable to secure.

Part of the reasoning behind the move is that Apple's system does not infringe on traditional credit card payments networks, unlike some other programs backed by major retailers. In lieu of higher transaction fees, banks are supposedly looking to make up the difference through sheer volume driven by — hopefully rapid — Apple Pay adoption. Instead of paying with cash, consumers may switch to Apple's system.

Further, Apple's payments solution is tokenized, meaning card numbers and other sensitive information is replaced with generated codes. The system is thought to be more secure than swip-to-pay methods.

Apple Pay will be available on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus handsets, as well as the upcoming Apple Watch.

This could be even more profitable than iTunes if this sticks

Yeah it's funny how Samsung tries so hard to discount apple. It reminds me when apple did this years ago with PC.

This is the best part of the article:

Since entering the smartphone market, Samsung has fielded a flotilla of devices with varying screen sizes in what seems to be a "throw everything at the wall and see what sticks" approach to differentiation. Despite a number of flops, the tactic has allowed the company to cherry-pick popular form factors and crow about being "first" to market.

And I loved Apple's response:

"We could have done a larger iPhone years ago," Cook said in the interview. "It's never been about just making a larger phone. It's been making — it's been about making a better phone in every single way. And so we ship things when they're ready, and we think that both the display technology here, the battery technology, but all — but everything else and the software."

That's what makes apple so special. They don't release something just to release it. They make sure they are the best at what that design is in the market

Ordered the 6+ Mags.... Worried because it's almost as big as my MBAir!

Or people and stores won't participate because apple is adding a 1.5% "tax" to the existing 2.5% or 3% Visa "tax."

I may have read it wrong, but the article said the banks agreed to let apple have a chunk of their pie. Did I read it wrong?

First the banks told us ATMs would save them money by requiring less interaction with tellers. Then later they add a $3 fee to take out $20. That's 13%.

But yeah, the banks don't do that sort of thing so apple is in good shape.

Okay I get it. Whatever apple and the banks agreed on doesn't mean the banks won't add to that? I would think apple, how they convinced the record industry to take cuts, would use that same influence to convince these banks.

Maybe I'm hoping too much

We'll see. Apple Pay goes bye bye if the banks stop cooperating. Who has the leverage?
