Thought your an Andriod fan?

No. I'll get either brand depending which is the truly better phone. The 6 looks fine, I'll compare to the note 4...mainly the camera and memory. The big thing for me is battery swapping I tend to run out fast since I use my Iphone so much. From what I've seems so far the iphone6 is an incremental upgrade, not something earth shattering.

Samsung Galaxy S6 will not break and is bendable.

I never realized how boring other developer events are. There is zero charm factor with these nerds! Gives a level of appreciation to the boys in apple for their event production

Study: Apple's new iPhones score big in durability

NEW YORK (AP) -- Apple's new and bigger iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are more durable than last year's model and a leading Android phone, a study says.

Apple's iPhone 6, whose screen measures 4.7 inches, did the best across a variety of tests that measures how prone smartphones are to break due to every day accidents, SquareTrade, a company that provides extended protection plans, says.

The iPhone Plus 6, whose screen measures 5.5 inches, wasn't far behind but lost points because it could slip out of a person's hand since some users may have a hard time gripping its large but slim form, SquareTrade says.

The iPhone 5s, which measures 4 inches and came out last year, fared better than Samsung's Galaxy S5, which measures 5.1 inches. The Samsung phone got poor marks on several tests including the slide test. The more a phone slides, the greater its chance of falling off the edge of a table.

Still, all four of the smartphones tested had a medium risk of breakage and had no drastic differences among them.

"The phones are getting more and more durable," says Ty Shay, chief marketing officer at SquareTrade. "Manufacturers are paying more attention."

SquareTrade examines the phones based on eight factors, including size, weight, grip and the quality of the front and back panels. The company measured how far the phones slide when pushed across a table on their backs and how well they withstand drops from 4 feet and being dunked in water for 10 seconds.

SquareTrade says it uses robots to do the testing to ensure consistency, and rates the phones on a 10-point durability scale, with 10 signifying the highest risk. Apple's iPhone 6 scored the best at 4; the iPhone 6 Plus scored a 5; the iPhone 5s a 6; and Samsung Galaxy S5 a 6.5.

Apple's iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus passed the slide test, but the iPhone 5s and Samsung Galaxy's S5 got poor marks in that area. The iPhone 6 Plus was the only one that didn't fare as well when dropped 4 feet by the robot. The glass screen survived, but the case separated from the glass. All four phones fared well in the water resistance test.

SquareTrade provided The Associated Press with the results ahead of Monday's announcement.

Aside from larger screens, the new Apple iPhones 6 and 6 Plus announced this month promises faster performance and offers a wireless chip for making credit card payments at stores by holding the phone near the payment terminal. The phones start at $199 with a two-year service contact. The phones went on sale this past week in the U.S. and nine other countries.

The NSA loves Google and an ad-based Internet more than Apple, in 1 chart

useraccounts.png

Apple’s Tim Cook made a rare swipe at his competitors this week, claiming that he was “offended” by the lax privacy policies of Internet companies. Apple, he argued, doesn’t need to collect as much personal data for the prying eyes of advertisers and government spies, because their true customer is the user. Customers pay money for most of Apple’s products, unlike the Internet companies, such as Google and Facebook.

Apple therefore doesn’t worry about getting a warrant from the National Security Agency to hand over their users’ call logs and the content of emails, because such information is encrypted between users, and hidden from the company.

The data appears to support this fact. In 2013, the NSA permitted Internet companies to disclose the number of users they gave up information on, reported in bands of 1,000 accounts. Google gave up information on a maximum of 16,000 users, while Apple gave up info on only 1,000.

Apple, of course, can make this claim because it makes so much money on the hardware it sells. Not everyone can afford an iPhone, especially in poorer nations. Google’s Android is the most popular operating system in the world, with about 51% of the market in 2013, compared to Apple’s 41%.

It remains to be seen whether Apple can ever make a phone that’s affordable to everyone. And if it can’t, then it forces us into a difficult decision between privacy and affordability. There are important benefits to an ad-based Internet, and we should acknowledge these in the national discussion on privacy.

Apple sells more than 10 mln new iPhones in first three days

(Adds details)

Sept 22 (Reuters) - Apple Inc said it sold more than 10 million iPhones in the first weekend after its new models went on sale on Friday, underscoring strong demand for phones with larger displays.

Chief Executive Tim Cook said the company could have sold even more if supplies had been available.

Analysts had estimated first-weekend sales of up to 10 million iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus models, based on record first-day pre-orders.

The new phones, which went on sale in 10 countries, drew more than 4 million pre-orders on Sept. 12, far surpassing the 2 million orders for the iPhone 5 model in the same period two years ago.

Apple shares were up 0.8 percent at $101.84 in early trading on the Nasdaq on Monday.

"While our team managed the manufacturing ramp better than ever before, we could have sold many more iPhones with greater supply and we are working hard to fill orders as quickly as possible," Cook said in a statement.

Last year, Apple sold 9 million iPhone 5S and 5C models in 11 countries, including China, in the first weekend they were available.

Sales of the latest models in China, the world's largest smartphone market, have been delayed by regulatory issues.

Apple sold 5 million iPhone 5 handsets, 4 million iPhone 4S models and 1.7 million iPhone 4 units during the first weekend.

The company said last week that many U.S. customers would have to wait until next month for their new iPhones due to strong demand.

Apple routinely faces iPhone supply constraints, particularly in years that involve a re-design.

The new iPhones will be available in 20 more countries on Sept. 26 and 115 countries by the end of the year, Apple said.

The company also said "Apple Pay" - its new wireless payment service that allows users to pay for items in stores with their phones - will be available in October to customers in the United States as a free update with the iOS 8 mobile operating system.

Somehow I think BeerBoy's phone and Mrs. HCP's phone sit next to each other quite a lot.

SWEET!!!!! I can't wait for your review

Re: NOMINATIONS for the Best Non-Game Winning Play

Will pass along my thoughts as soon as I get a chance to mess with it. My biggest concern is finding a case I like for it.. I'm very picky when it comes to style of my electronics (Probably why I don't dig PC/Android).

Re: NOMINATIONS for the Best Non-Game Winning Play

Also Mags, I'm wondering if the protruding camera lens will bug me as much as this guy!

The case will make the lens flush with the case. Anyone that thinks they won't need a case is a fucking idiot! This guy is crazy to do that!

Re: NOMINATIONS for the Best Non-Game Winning Play

LOL! Can you Apple fan boys not talk about your toys in EVERY thread.

Got my 6 on Friday and it's working great. Hate to say it to you plus sized ladies, but I'm doubly glad I stuck with the 6. It's plenty big enough and the plus will be a lot more clunky to use, handle and carry. Apple has also confirmed that phone size does not increase penis size. In fact, reports are that phone size is inversely proportional to penis size.

Edit: also, the lens is a non-issue. I didn't really notice it even without the case. Now that I have a case, it's even that much more of a slam dunk non-issue.

Lol. We'll just see. Mags' ass can be the test case. Will it fit in his backpocket? If it does, will the six plus flatten his ass? Or will the six plus shatter the first time he sits down? It's kind of like the unstoppable force meeting the immovable object. Something will have to give.

Picked up the 64 gig iphone 6 for my wife on Friday. Have to admit that it's pretty sweet.

But I still wouldn't trade my Galaxy S5 for it.
