OK, well, I'm sure the obvious sites such as porn, etc., but what about others such as ESPN (or related sports sites), S2 (or such), wagering sites, YouTube, etc.? Does your place of employment ban those (or others), as well?

Furthermore, I've often wondered just how much "work time" is wasted by good folk surfing the net? Is it of relative epidemic proportions?

Banned sites? None at mine, either. At least none that I know of. :)

Time "wasted"? It's hard to say. I work with a lot of creatives that need to get inspiration and, I'd argue, random websites are a good way to pursue ideas. Facebook and other social media is part of what we do, so while some of the time that I spend on those sites isn't, strictly speaking, applicable to work I think that I can justify almost all of it at some level or another.

What in the world did we do without the internets! :)

Where I work they encourage us to watch Looney Tunes all day.

Fortunately I have this board at night to ease the pressures of the day.

Most social media sites including FB, Youtube. I do get Twitter for whatever reason though

my work blocks every site besides the ones we actually use.

I'm a freelance employee, I am my own boss!

Gambling, blogs, Facebook, social media, high bandwidth stuff like YouTube and movies...

I'm a stay at home dad. No sites blocked here. :)

Me, too. From BIG Government.

But not from your employer.
Which has more influence over your day to day life?

All the social network ones, espn, ebay. If I had a work reason to use them I could have the IT guy unblock it for me but I'd probably just waste more hours in the day there.

working in the media i have most sites open but they block random ones like file sharing that we need from time to time. had it happen to me friday night when i was trying to pull video of a hs football playoff game that another station had shot for me. very frustrating. but it is nice to have the excuse that i "need" facebook and espn for "work" reasons.

In all honesty, like you and MARIS, I have complete access to all sites, as well. So, paint me hypocritical. ;)

some of us actually step in FRONT of a camera from time to time to do our work!

I'm just messing with you brother. What do you do for a living if you don't mind me asking?

All right! Long live the FREEDOM THREESOME, Maris, barfo, and ABM!

I've been known to get in FRONT of the camera every now and then.

i know you're just messing around, i don't take anything all that seriously on here, especially coming from you. i am the m-f sports anchor for an nbc affliate in texas. i really like my work but not sure i love it enough to be so far from the nw. having said that i know i have a job that most people would do in a heartbeat, that's how they get away with paying us so little.
