What we “know”

Since Ayton is expiring, forget about him until Grant/RWIII/Jrue are gone.
We can forget about him all we want but before the draft there were two different reports that claimed to have sources that we were shopping Ayton and Rob more than any other player.

Joe has to clear those two guys because he has to show that the two headed monster at C that he spent our last two drafts on were a good investment. If he can show that him and his front office are smarter than everyone else then maybe the new ownership group will keep them. I don't think there's a great chance of that but at the very least he needs to prove that this week wasn't the clown show that it looked like, if he ever wants another job as a GM again.

Clingan averaged 28 minutes over the last 20 games. He didn't score like DA, but he doesn't shoot nearly as much. However, he rebounded at an elite level, especially on the offensive glass, and was an excellent rim protector Portland and paint defender; two things Ayton doesn't do

so yeah, I think he could play 30 minutes a night but probably won't need to

* Portland was +4.2 in rebounding with Clingan on the floor; they were -1.4 in rebounding with Ayton on the floor
* Portland's block rate was +2.2 with Clingan on the floor; it was -2.1 with Ayton on the floor
* Portland's offensive rating was +0.8 with Clingan on the floor; -0.3 with Ayton on the floor

* Portland's opponents had an offensive rating of 112.5 with Clingan on the floor; and a rating of 116.3 with him off the floor. They were -3.8 points worse facing Clingan
* Portland's opponents had an offensive rating of 118.4 with Ayton on the floor; and a rating of 113.6 with him off the floor. They were +4.8 points better facing Ayton
powerful stats. Thanks for doing the research.

Will Ayton have a great season this year looking for a new contract?

You guys bashing on Cronin for his “years” of doing nothing are hilarious. He was made gm in May of 22’. Thats three years. Three years of which most believe his first and possibly second year were management directive moves.

In that time he has wiped out everyone on the roster from the Olshey era.

but you know… he hasn't done shit….

Such biased tunnel vision some have, its amazing.

Were all his moves good? No. All bad? No.

But to say he doesn't do much or whatever semantics you guys want to plY is just flat out wrong.

It’s like you guys think changing the team is as easy as changing clothes in a dressing room or something.

Sooo many know it alls here…

I don't think it's the number of moves that's the issue.

It's having rosters that don't make sense position wise or the mix of youth/vets.

The roster is fine. Do we have 6 guards and one center? 6 centers and one wing?
No, we are fairly loaded now in all positions but maybe pf. Of course not all of them are all stars.

show me one playoff team that has only vets or only youth?

All good teams are a mix of vets and youth.

Not sure where your point of contention lies.
Care to go into detail why what you said is such an issue?

Also sometimes when overhauling a roster you go for best players available. That can tend to overlap talent until evaluated, to then move on from the lesser, to even out the roster.

Again, it’s like some think you can wave a magic wand and poof! Roster is perfect!!!

POR does not have a bona fide number 1 guy. Nobody that is unstoppable. They rank very poorly in offense and were so so overall on defense. They aren’t stacked at any position. Scoot, Shae, Grant, Ayton, DC, are all average nba players. POR doesn’t have a guy that can take over a game. That is the problem. Zion, Luka, Steph, AntE, Wemby etc can all take over a game when the chips are down.

On paper POR should be better than UTA and NOP. Thats it in the west, but he season hasn’t started. SAC is ???, GSW is always good. MEM is a question mark too.

They could lighten the load at center and the PF position always has been an issue but we have Grant and he is good defensively and offensively. He guards multiple positions and is a willing passer. I personally don’t want to get rid of Grant unless they get a better option at the PF position.

I guess we are all hoping Sharpe becomes that guy.

Reath is an end of bencher on a good team. Rw3 is always injured and unreliable. Ayton is somewhat injury prone.

If the bottleneck at C is the biggest point of contention, then i do not see what all the hate is about for Cronin at all.
This is Portland. We need 3 serviceable centers at all times in my opinion.

Duop to me is a guy who can backup the 4 position with his shooting and speed. He’s also played with Yang in China so those two off the bench twin towers would be fun to watch. looks to me like a hell of a bench mob next season
