Gamer!
I fear what many have said here already. I was all for signing him based on numbers on the field but it doesn't seem the numbers off the field are going to be good for the everyday lineup. If he has a hangnail, it seems automatically a 15 DL reservation, then an extra week or two because he just hasn't responded the way the medical staff was hoping for bullshit.

As he's on the other side of 30 I feel like it's what I said in the game thread. It's looking more and more like a bad contract as time goes on.

Durable... Healthy... Every-day-player.... Never-misses-a-game...

oft-injured........... inconsistent.............. overpaid.

NOT MY KIND OF BALLPLAYER.

$21 million a year for the next five years.

who is letting him get away with it JOE GIRARDI! another senseless loss today to a team that sucks! caught the last chance for the yanks only to see a fookin .209 hitter 209!!! leading off the bottom of the 9th with a 2-0 count, swings at a pitch looked a little high, a 209 hitter going for the fences, 209 hitter that should be lookin to get on base anyway he can!!!!!!!

What exactly is Girardi letting Ellsbury get away with?

...Mess, I've given up trying to decipher and make sense of pasta's encrypted ramblings about Girardi...this thread is supposed to be about Ellsbury and so I have no idea why Drew was dragged into this.

...but since he was, it's worth noting that Drew's lone redeeming offensive strength has been his ability to hit the occasional HR. (17 of his 75 paltry hits this season have come via the HR...take away those HRs and he's batting .161)
...And since the Yanx were only down 1 run in the bottom of the 9th, swinging for the fences was probably the right approach for him at that time because it could have tied up the game...having said that, I don't see what good a single or a BB from Drew would have done since both the next 2 batters (Gardener and Ellsbury) also failed.

upset stomachs, sore lats, swollen pinky toe, too many games played in a row, pitchers who can't go more then 6 , do i need to go any further .. how the f do u get an upset stomach an hour into a game, eat a tainted piece of bubble gum? these guys are babied more by girardi then new borns in a baby ward.

17 dingers! how many did he hit in the bottom of the 9th down by a run? i don't know man, this goes along with 'what does it matter what side of the base the ball is thrown too.. yikes!!!

wake up! i read all the whinning on here about this one and that one. again, who is responsible for the conditioning of a player? who is responsible for getting the most out of a player?

if these questions was presented to any poster, from anyone of the many sports message boards, i would bet the house it would be the coaches, but on here, its CASHMAN, lol!

Who gave Ellsbury a contract for $21 million a year? He missed time when he was in Boston as well so I guess their conditioning program was flawed as well.

Mc Cutchen re-signed with Pittsburgh in 2012 at a 9 mil per year rate of pay 14 mil in the final. Do I consider Mc Cutchen a "gamer" damn right I do I've liked that guys hustle since he arrived. Been a time or two I wish he were playing for the Yankees. Availability is a key signature and Ellsbury has been lacking in the area this season.

It's a terrible contract for the production it brings back. One career year so lets pay him like Trout.

Gamer....durable....inexpensible...true Yankee. Great words.

...if you're gonna quote someone while once again shitting the bed, at least be accurate.

ellsbury was a no brainer! one of the best leadoff guys you can find! good eye, speed, some power, smarts. great glove!

funny how most players who do very well elsewhere, and under girardi's watch, its injury after injury, slump after slump
