Darren Collison is playing out of his mind. If I were the Hornets GM, I would shop Chris Paul because of the two, I believe he's the one you could get the most in return.

So what could we give? Aldridge & Rudy? And if we do that, who plays PF? Would you trade Roy for Paul? I'd have to think about it.

What do you think?

Told you this would happen. And ZBO's ending contract would have been great bait to get the deal done for a financially strapped hornets team looking to blow up!

:ohno:

They would want cheap contracts and young talent.

Bayless + Rudy + Batum is probably THEIR starting point. also eat David West in the process.

Anyone would be on the table, but it all depends. If they want Roy, then Oden and Aldridge and maybe Batum wouldn't be available in addition. If they want Aldridge, I'd definitely be willing to include Batum (and players like Bayless and Fernandez). But then not Oden or Roy.

Why not shop Collison? Chris Paul is a really rare player.

For starters, the expiring contracts of Andre and Joel..then I'd offer a future 1st, Rudy and Batum (They wouldn't want/need Bayless if they keep Collison) and would take back any bad contracts like James Posey.
If they want Oden, fine, but take away Batum.

PG- Paul,Bayless,Mills
SG- Roy, Bayless,Webster
SF- Webster,Posey,Cunningham
PF- Aldridge,Cunningham
C- Oden,Camby,Pendergraph

or

PG- Paul,Bayless,Mills
SG- Roy,Bayless,Webster
SF- Batum,Posey,Webster
PF- Aldridge,Cunningham
C- Camby,Pendergraph

Use this years first for either a SF or C or sign a vet with the MLE.

I doubt he'll be available, but thats a damn good offer imo and we' be stupid to not go after a legit top 5 player in the league to help Roy out.

dont bother with this thread...if he is available this offseson he is coming to LA....thats of course if we didnt get Lebron :devilwink:

I'd trade any one player on our roster for Chris Paul.

And any two that aren't Roy. Aldridge and Rudy? In a heartbeat. Batum and a healthy Oden? That's a tougher sell for me, but yes...Paul is worth it. CP3 is a top 5 player. Roy is maybe top 10 or so. I'd take a bird in hand with KP's solid drafting skills to take whatever we have left over and turn it into a championship contender.

This ^^^^ I might even consider Roy really...

I'd include anyone on the team outside of Batum or Oden.
Yes that includes Roy. . .
In fact, Roy would probably have to be the starting point for the trade to even be considered.

Trade Roy whilst his stock is high. He's too much of a pouter to be a true leader.
Get back Paul, a once a generation PG. Paul & Oden = WIN.

i love paul but i have to wonder if hes injury prone. 2 years in a row now hes had bad injuries.

we could offer nothing the hornets would take.

all we need is oden and paul in the trainers room together wih roys bulky hammy and la's up and down nightly performance.

When it come to Chris Paul, I'd trade anyone on the team not named Travis Deiner. I wouldn't want to trade several of our best guys, but nobody on their own would be untouchable that's for sure.

Well I would add Rudy for sure... he will do his off season whining again this year I am sure.... so send him packing before he starts.

I think an expiring contracts of Miller and Joel are used as part of it. With Joel's likely paid by insurance now. A big plus in the deal. You shed big money and don't even pay for it. Just before the new CBA.

We don't deal Batum. there were rumblings about the Hornets wanting to shed salary for the big contracts they have. So... that is a starting point.

I would trade any player not named Oden. Oden, injured as he is, remains our best chance at a championship.

I don't see this trade working without Roy for a few reasons:

1. NO won't trade Paul for complimentary pieces, they will require a franchise player in return.
2. A Roy/Paul backcourt is less than ideal IMO-- Too much overlap in their offensive games.

I'm not sure of the salary aspects because I don't understand the PPP stuff (any CBA guys please feel free to chime in), but from a pure talent/contract length/fairness perspective, I think it would take at least something like Roy/Miller/Przy/Draft pick or Euro Rights for Paul/Bad contract to get a deal done. Probably more in reality, though.

That would give NO a franchise 2 guard to play alongside Collison and a veteran backup PG as well. Przy and Miller both come off the books at the end of next season.

That would leave us with a rotation of:

Paul/Bayless
Rudy/Bayless/Webster
Batum/Webster/Cunningham
LMA/Camby?/Pendergraph/Cunningham
Oden/Camby?/LMA

I would trade anyone on the roster for Paul, and with the exception of a couple of players, I would trade any 3 players to get him.

That being said......Paul would not be a good fit in Nate's offense.

I would give up anybody on the team for Paul.

Since you asked...

First of all, the PPP is only applicable through June 30, which means it is only relevant if we choose to trade Roy (or Aldridge) between the end of the season and the end of the NBA fiscal year. After that point, he will be a BYC player.

The PPP means that for trade purposes, his outgoing salary for us would be his current salary, but his incoming salary for the other team would be the average of his current salary and the annual salaries defined in the extension. According to the Sportstwo salaries page, Roy's max-level extension is currently valued at a little over $87M over 5 years, meaning his incoming value for any team would be about $15.2M, but our outgoing value would only be about $3.9M.

And in case anyone doesn't know, after July 1, his BYC status means that his outgoing value for us would be the average of his new salary and his old salary, but the incoming value for the other team would be his current salary. So, again using the figures on the page linked above, our outgoing value would be about $9.2M, but the other team's incoming value would be $14.4M. This, of course, suggests that any Roy-Paul trade would be most likely to happen after July 1, because PPP trades are much more difficult than BYC deals.

Ok, that makes sense. Thanks
