Put up jam yesterday. Pluto vanilla bean and strawberry basil. Pluot, idiot autocorrect, not Pluto. I know difference between fruit and planetoid.

Wild blackberries grow near my house. Going to get a bowl and take a walk. Can anyone place this quote:

I prefer boysenberry more than any ordinary jam
I'm a "Citizens for Boysenberry Jam" fan

Making bread later today.

PS

I remember that song when I lived in Concord, thought it unique as their two part harmony sounded like the Beach Boys, which I thought was different.

St Louis style barbecue ribs, fresh ears of corn, fully loaded baked potatoes, and salad with oil and vinegar dressing.

I did spaghetti all'assassina for the first time last week and should have taken a picture. That stuff was dynamite. Tonight I made a four hour slow cooked beef ragu pasta with grated pecorino romano. You just can't beat a good Italian recipe filling your house with the most amazing smells.

Shit. Or rather piss. Out of a clear blue sky hit with sudden urinary tract infection. They told me antibiotic shot would hurt my arm and no lie. (Hardest thing for a woman to do one handed, putting on and taking off bra.)

Forget haute cuisine. Going to store tomorrow for bananas and potatoes. They told me I need potassium since I have to pee every 10 minutes. Painfully. I have lentil soup which also has potassium. Breakfast tomorrow.

Lashanna is taking care of me.

Green sauces. Pesto, pistou, salse verte.

I need to make extra batch of yogurt. On way back from getting shot full of holes, stopped at Food Maxx for milk. Downscale market but they sell organic milk and are closest. Need to walk through produce department to get to dairy. Approached by man in store uniform. Said hi, I said hi. He asked if I like pears. Showed his tag, he is produce manager and they have too many pears. Offered me a bag of a dozen for 99 cents.

Unlike their cousins, apples and quinces, pears don't keep.

Going to eat a couple raw and turn rest into pear bread and pear upside down cake.

And why did autocorrect change pear to peat?

Got a flat cut brisket on the smoker right now.
Is it still hard to find the full packers up there? And if you do what's the cost per lb? Down here in SoTex when I started up in the BBQ world pre2020 you could find brisket for 1.50/lb, now the half way decent stuff is at least $4 and anything good is $5 to $6.

No, you can get a full brisket easily at Costco.
I paid about $50 for the flat cut brisket at Costco and I think it was about 5 lbs.

$10/lb for brisket flat is crazy ... but then again if I had to choose I'd get the point. I've very much gotten into the mode of smoking chuck roasts or even tri-tip if I want to spend a little more. Get about 95% of the flavor/texture of brisket at 1/3 of the effort.

I agree. I've never done a chuck roast but have done lots of tri-tips. Tri-tip is so easy and so yummy.
My son has been begging me to do a brisket, so that's why I did it.

Try smoking one just like you would a brisket, take it up to 203ish. The Chuck Roast has more of the intermuscular fat like brisket but was really surprised how good TriTip was doing it brisket style. Both are very good alternatives.

I actually really like Kinder's seasonings.

I think the meat tastes just a smidge better with a binder too. Even on tri-tip.
