My favorite place to have coffee and pastries while I worked on my novel. Second favorite place was Cup and Saucer on Hawthorne… now they’re both gone.

It's depressing how many small businesses have shuttered the last few years... What's your novel about?

It’s about kids on the playground during recess, playing a game of knights and chivalry, kind of Peanuts meets Don Quixote or Ivanhoe.

How long is a typical recess? I must have known that once upon a time!
Does the novel take place over a single recess period on one particular day, or a year of recesses, or?

Recesses in the story are about 20 minutes. The story takes place over a year’s worth of recesses.

“First half of winter”?
It’s only been winter like 2 weeks FAMS!
Oregon weatherman winter is November 1 - February 28, regardless of the solstices or equinoxes. It's like how tomatoes are fruit when they're on the vine but in food they're vegetables.

They’ve already started building one out in Ridgefield. One exit before the casino.

I’ve never had In N Out. But many people I’ve talked to have said it’s all hype.
Definitely all hype. And they have some of the worst fries ever

uhhh….half way through winter, Steve Pierce?(my mother’s second husband was a Pierce).

When does winter officially start?

December 21

  • In the Northern Hemisphere, it typically begins around December 21 or 22 (the winter solstice) and ends around March 20 or 21 (the spring equinox). This definition is tied to the Earth's tilt and orbit, marking the shortest day of the year and the gradual return of longer daylight hours.

Was she related to Ricky Pierce?

That In-N-Out location is perfect honestly. Nothing there for the massive influx of traffic to affect/effect.

Somebody tell the bot that was like two months ago. SideNote, we went in the last day and bought a dozen of the sausage rolls for our kids and threw em in the freezer. They were the best. Already miss that place
