Rumor What's going on in Portland?

Most of my HS buddies worked at either the Milwaukee Whizburger or the nearby Pietro's Pizza. They would meet on their lunch breaks so they could swap their free lunches (burgers for pizza and vice versa). Unfortunately, when I saw and heard some of the antics that went on at those places I started to take my business elsewhere. But my favorite Whizburger was the one on 39th, a block north of Hawthorne. I think that might have even been the last one standing. But the Whiz was a great late night option after a night of partying and gut bombs were needed to soak up the beer before stumbling home.....

If you guys ever are out in Gresham, check out Dea's in and out. That was my dads hang out as a kid. It still is around. Deep fried mushrooms are great.

That sounds like it'd be a really fun tour!
Man it was amazing just to hear all the details about how projects came together and all it took to get that district going. Loved seeing all the pride he took in his work. He also did Skamania Lodge, some amazing covered bridges and other random projects. More of a dad to me than my real dad……

Do tell! What type of antics! Still eat Pietro's as of three days ago.

Typical teenage, minimum wage employee crap. Dropping burgers and pizza on the floor before (and after) cooking them. Dabbing their armpits with the burgers for laughs before slapping them on the grill. Dealing with customers complaining about their food and "fixing" those complaints in ways that still disgust me. The list goes on.......of course this was over 50 ago, but teenagers are still teenagers.......I can't say I'm sorry that I never worked food service. Wastewater treatment was disgusting enough.......

I never complain about the food I'm served. And I would NEVER eat something that had been brought to the table after a complaint.

I frequent Pietros too. actually, with a client of mine made a point of visiting all 4 Pietro's to see which one was the best. I'd say it was the Beaverton one, until they closed it down. Hood River and Salem were meh. The Milwaukie one is my favorite tho.

I went to their new location Monday, and honest to god, I had never seen it so packed. And the old man in me was complaining about how loud the music was.

My favorite trick, at least it works at the Milwaukie location, is to ask for a "to go" salad container. That way out can get about 3x as much salad compared to the plate they give you.

yes, I am bragging about eating mostly salad at a pizza restaurant.

Did you go to Milwaukie HS?

I do(did, before the move) the lunch about once a week. I work damn near walking distance.
I didn't do the togo container until i saw someone else do it and realized i can get twice as much! Lol. Been ordering to go ever since. To me the pizza is like a throw in now. Salary filler. Lol.

I leaned it from my friend Susan. Also put the dressing in it's own container and same with the other dairy based items (so they don't ruin the salad as it sits in my ice chest).

Yes. I think about this stuff

Be honest, neither one of you get actual salad, you both fill the to go container with nothing but the pudding.

They have some good pudding

Oh, I have the pudding. But they don't let you have it unlimited, in the sense that it's in small containers
