So because we live in a neighborhood without cars burning in the streets we live in an "isolated bubble" and have no clue of what's going on around OUR city? Just stay in your utopian village or wherever the fuck you live and don't come into our post apocalyptic waste land. Imagine that, a city with almost 700,000 people and there is crime and a homeless problem. Never saw that coming. Why do you get off researching and finding negative things about a city you don't even live in?

Because you live in one of the wealthiest perhaps?

We have GOT to figure out the tents and graffiti. I just can’t believe it. Buy a city block somewhere and build apartments. I have no idea. But fuck it’s totally out of control. WTF are the politicians doing about it?

Must be nice to be in an isolated bubble (nicer neighborhood) and just think its that way everywhere but just a couple city blocks
Money and privilege...

of course schools are going to keep the homeless off their grounds. Of course they are going to quickly clean up vandalism if it happens. Private businesses don't have government fund backing do do those things.

i love how some defend portland as not being trashed right now...
I must travel in different circles 'cause I never see trash.

Republican politicians are defeating every Democrat attempt to deal with it starting with rolling back that really stupid tax cut that Trump and Mitch got through.

because i get tired of you and some others saying there isnt an issue when i drive around and see it everywhere.
You wont concede tou were wrong, so as long as you post like you do, ill post like i do.
You post bs, i counter with the truth.

some people cant handle the truth. ;)

so when you cuss people out aNd berate them with maps trying to make them look stupid, your gonna get countered in kind.

surprised you have not learned that yet.
Maybe if you didnt post silly things trying to counter what is being REPORTED,

you wouldnt get countered on your counter.

But then i wouldn't expect the privileged to open the wide angle lense to actually see that much of portland has issues right now.
You are like the 1%ers.

“Nothing wrong around my hood. Dont know why people complain, everything's just fine....”

Lmfao!!!!

green font?
No, I just don't see it on the West side of town although I seldom get downtown except to a nice restaurant occasionally. I was in NW Portland at the Star of Portland to pick up a great pizza and drove back to Lake Oswego by going up Broadway to i-405 to I-5 to Kruse Way. Never saw anything on that route. Sometimes we travel to East Vancouver to visit in-laws via I-205 and we see an alarming number of people living under bridges which I attribute to Republican policies and taxes or should I say lack of taxes.

I guess I just don't understand the frequent bitching about Portland and the state of Portland from people who live in Hillsboro, Beaverton, Canby, or even Tennessee. We get it. You don't like it. It's not for you, and that's why you chose to move away from it, or never live in the city. There's a good chunk of us who live in Portland who like Portland and choose to stay here.

It's not fair that us city dwellers have easier access to Mrs HCP.

so because we are outside the city limits we arent allowed vested interests? People dont cross commute? Live in Gresham work in clackamas? Live in vancouver work in downtown portland? Live in Gladstone and work near the airport?

were not allowed to have an opinion on what we see?

Thats pretty rich....

some of you who like it, keep portraying a false image to provide a biased defense of what is happening. Some of us who stick to the truth are Calling out the bs.

What else do you not understand i might be able to help you with?

well you can attribute it to what you want. Downtown is not as bad as it is being made out to be. The Northside from the waterfront to park Avenue is covered in tents and garbage. Homeless people are being allowed keep their tents set up down there now because of Covid. Once the pandemic passes that will be cleaned up as the homeless are forced out or again arrested for various things. (Which is no real way to deal with it).

There are still many boarded up businesses and graffiti in parts of downtown. Again as the pandemic passes and downtown opens again and becomes a place for people to go shop and eat, etc it will get cleaned up.

I have never felt unsafe there

They need to build more transitional housing for the homeless. But, there will always be those who choose to stay on the streets. There will always be homeless people.

which i attribute to covid policies enforced by democratic legislature.

Which policies are you referring to?

Here, I'll make it easy for you.

I'm sure Covid-19 has something to do with it, the vast majority of which I attribute to a once craving to be king Trump who didn't want any part of the complications of dealing with the disease.

You can have interest in vests. Rain coats. Parkas. Suit yourself.

If someone is complaining about downtown portland because they work in downtown portland, then sure, bitch away I guess. But that's just generally not what's happening. It's someone from the burbs posting articles about falling home prices in Portland. Or posting articles about how it's the next Detroit. Or worrying about machete wielding roving gangs. Or driving along the highways on the outskirts and seeing homeless camps.

And people that live and work here say that there are homeless, there is trash. And say it's not everywhere, but acknowledge it is there and it sucks. But it's somehow a biased lie if they say it's not everywhere, and then show that it's not everywhere? ok

Portland is no where near as bad as Detroit and it will never be. You want to see a real war zone, go to Detroit. You will be begging to come back to Portland who's biggest issue is an overpopulation of tents and trash.

I'm not saying there isn't violence here. There is violence everywhere. But, its nothing here compared to Detroit or Chicago.

The machete dude was one mentally ill person. There are no gangs of machete weilding people downtown. Its being made out worse than it is.

Some of us that liked the post liked it because we're not the bitching type. Some of us see problems, but rather than bitch about it, actually go out and do something about it. Some of us would rather stick around and make things better than go running elsewhere.
I owned two homes in Portland and only moved three years ago. it takes recognition its bad before anything can get done.

Your missing the point. Some people here say it isnt bad. If things need to be foxed it must be bad, eh?

unm i grew up in the city limits. Graduated highschool in the city limits. Owned multiple homes in the city limits. LIVED down town. My wife worked downtown for 20 years until two years ago.

Sorry if you missed the cynical take.
“You blame republicans. I blame democrats...”

unm i grew up in the city limits. Graduated highschool in the city limits. Owned multiple homes in the city limits. LIVED down town. My wife worked downtown for 20 years until two years ago.
No one has shown its not everywhere. Ive posted pictures of it all over and you dismissed it.
Not even gonna take you serious anymore.
Well, HCP showed a picture of his neighborhood, and it isn't there. I can show pictures of my area and show it isn't here. There's plenty of places where homelessness and trash ISN'T in the city. Which obviously shows it isn't EVERYWHERE.

Also. How is posting an informative link wothout comment, bitching about how bad it is?

this fucking thread is whats going on in Portland. Someone posts a link about an article of how its going and its considered bitching?

i swear im missing the green font or some people have seriously odd viewpoints.
But hey i can get a few likes so i must be right in my views!!!

Llmmmfffaaaoooo!!!!

too many basement dwellers here at times..

or snowflakes...

Or somethin.....

There's bad, I'm not going to dispute that. But it isn't a "war zone" bad or a third-world country (I've lived in third world countries). I'd definitely like to see we tackle the homelessness situation better than we'd been in the past.

did i ever call it a war zone or third world country?

i do not beleive i did. Yet when i post an article, Im targeted by some people here as if i wrote it.

its ridiculously fucked up.
So when i got attacked a while back, i posted pictures i took of some bad areas. I got crickets from some of those same people who come at me about the recent link i posted.
Does it get any more hypocritical?

I mean get this?

The other day i posted something and got a bunch of pushback. I further clarified myself and got further pushback. Then phatguyarule, quotes my post and says he agrees with everything.
The same people who pushed back on my post, liked his post!!!

what the fuck kind of ass backwards double standard hypocritical bullshit is that?
And nOw some of these same people are saying im bitching aBout how it is because i posted a couple links??

Fucking romper room around here i tell ya!!!
lol.
