Just wanted to share….. my daughter’s best friend is now playing soccer up in Spokane for Gonzaga. Arrived on campus July 6th….her and the players haven’t left campus ONCE because of the homeless problem there. Can’t even leave the front gates of the school. Shit seems getting worse everywhere.

Why not give the homeless soccer scholarships?

Seems like the school should be providing security.

I remember going to basketball camp/tourneys up there in high school and it being pretty wild and rough even back then. Just on the other side of a prison like fence. Maybe I'm exaggerating because I was just a kid but it did seem weird to me at the time.

I see where a lady doctor got knocked out and seriously fucked her face up in sw downtown portland, by a homeless thug. They have him on camera so ai hope they throw the hook at him.
She waited 2o mins for police to show up.

She left before the police even showed up after waiting around for 20 minutes.

Police weren't even dispatched until 20 minutes after she called...

Ridiculous....I guess they had approx 50 call before her?
I mean this was in downtown Portland, right? So the police would have had to travel at least several blocks to get there... it's a good thing they track all of our cell locations and got that info when she called in...

Just call the police kids. When you need them immediately they're only 20-ish minutes away... from dispatching the next available officer.

Perfect weather today for the Fremont Fest over in our hood. I know it’s the EastSide, but we still had fun.

I was reading an article the other day about 911 receptionists being unable to man the volume of calls for the first time in modern times...they lost 48% of their work force over covid and had already suffered high turnover due to stress of the job. They apparently are severely understaffed now all across the country and people are dialing 911 and nobody is able to pick up more and more often. There's a job market for the unemployed out there struggling.

So true!

I do not have hard numbers to back up the info below, just impressions based on info from various sources.

The average age of workers in the construction industry is raising. There is a shortage of younger workers learning the trade. Some claim "part" of the housing shortage is due to the lack of workers.

If true, how about training the homeless to be carpenters, plumbers and electricians.

Not only will the homeless learn a necessary trade, they will get paid a good wage to build their own homes.

They are electricians. They just focus on the demo and sale of copper wiring, not the installation.
