Every county should have one of these.
Gonna have to get serious about those solar things....PG&E to raise electric rates on average 17% in 2024.
Im glad I use NG for water & hvac....
Yep. Sorry about that. was supposed to be posted in a different thead. Can we please limit the gun stuff to the gun threads?
Or make a new thread, What's Gunning On In Portland?
ODOT has announced plan to toll Hwy 26 & Hwy 217
...as well as 205 (which we already knew about).
Tolling is no longer "just" a Clackamas County issue. They've been secretly working on westside tolling for three years! And just like with I-205 tolling there is no diversion study.

All of Oregon should get to vote on any new tolls.

I'd honestly prefer a progressive tax that covers all of Oregon's roads and then a toll on out of state drivers to cover the rest.I get tolling the interstate hwys but not the intrastate roads. At least with interstate you get tolls from out of state drivers sharing the cost.

And yes, in an emergency you can drive your car across the Tillicum.
This is kind of awesome. After the earthquake, we'll have our very own Bridge to Nowhere.
![]()
This bridge to nowhere is in the San Gabriel mountains in Southern California, and is (now) in a wilderness area. The road to it washed away in a flood, but the bridge didn't. I've hiked to it.

Thats really cool! How long was your hike?
2023 shaping up to be deadliest year for Portland crashes
Yep. Sounds about like typical logic.Cars kill people, ban private citizens from owning cars.
Yep. Sounds about like typical logic.
Of course, we could just make the necessary changes to give people a better option. How about public transit, based on electricity, that gets you to any other city in Oregon in half the time as driving?
Totally doable.
Sounds just like New York city, and a good way to get mugged.
How do we safely travel through each cities gangs to reach our home city? Will we need to travel in fighting gangs like in the movie "The Warriors"?
Pretty sure cars kill many more people than guns. Banem all.Cars kill people, ban private citizens from owning cars.
It's just as easy to be followed home in your car and robbed at home.
In fact, it happens all the time.
With even decent security it would probably be easier to protect you on public transit.

We have trains all over the place. Max, and streetcars. There are many examples of cities all over the world with even worse conditions than Portland which have far better mass transit.Wait. Okay. What percentage of car owners are looking to rob another driver on the road compared to public transit passengers looking to rob fellow passengers?
I have no clue on stats but i would find it very hard to believe that they are even remotely close.
Im not sure how it can be just as easy. Not seeing that at all.
in this city, mass transit is very hard to expand alot more. 84 is maxed out. The hills and rivers, etc.
to massively expand mass transit to remove a decent percentage of traffic would be an astronomical cost I would imagine
They are closing the burnside bridge for 5 years to work on it. It took 5 years to build the new max/pedestrian bridge near the ross island bridge.
This city wasnt built to expand within. Narrow streets lack of thruways, etc.
