Did these guy get on Stott's shit list or what?

Why aren't they getting burn? I thought their effort would have been much needed last night

People have been asking for a shortened bench rotation for some time and now that it happens they want the opposite. Can't please everyone (by the way this goes for players as much as fans).

TRob and the team seem headed in different directions. I guess we'll see if he'll have some meaningful playing time this season.

Who's been asking for a shortened bench? Stotts always uses a short bench. If anything most have been wanting to use his bench more.

I never asked that. And let's humor this notion. T. Rob not getting any minutes mean what?

Hey if they don't want T. Rob, then move him. I'm fine either way

I don't think Stotts likes the way they play. Sure they add energy when they're out there, but it doesn't always feel like it's happening within a game plan.

But let's be real here, CJ McCollum is going to get more of a chance to prove himself because of his draft position over a guy like Barton; spending that pick was an investment and GMs usually want to see that investment pay a return. In Robinson's case, he's in the unfortunate position of playing behind an all-star and a duo of veteran bigs like Kaman and Lopez; that feels as much to do with a minutes crunch as anything.

I'm fine with that. I just think Olshey should put them together with Wright for a back up SF then.

They opted not to go with his extension and he hasn't played meaningful minutes. That says something.

You guys are right, and I get all of the above, but we do miss the energy these guys bring. Sometimes it's from the sheer chaos factor and isn't without negatives, but it also can jump start the effort of the regulars.

I don't disagree, but I don't think Stotts sees it that way.

But what if we used them to grab a legit backup SF? Seems that's the place we are really thin at

Yes...develop his bench but with guys who might do something. Wright has done very little in his time here. With TRob, you at least know he is going to be active and crash the board...and probably foul a lot but in his minutes, it's not really an issue.

Same with Barton. You will get energy, activity and the ability to fill the stat sheet like few other than Nic. However, he won't sleep through games like Nic does. He may be questionable at times but it won't be for lack of effort.

So you are saying Will back up Batum then? I'm seeing the minute distribution and I don't see much room for T.rob. I would much rather have Kaman on the floor than T.Rob. T rob can't play SF, as much as I would want him to

I would certainly not oppose that idea. I'd actually like to keep Barton over TRob. Don't know why, just a feeling that Will is going to keep improving and TRob is kind of a dolt/hard to coach.

So, you answered your own question in regards to TRob.

I'd much rather have Barton than Wright and maybe even give Crabbe a shot. Wright is just so one-dimensional and that dimension hasn't worked in Portland.

You might be confused on shortening the bench vs shortening bench minutes. A lot of people have wanted to shorten the bench yet play the bench longer to give the starters a rest.

I think using Will, Wright and T. Rob would bet a higher caliber SF back up.

I actually think Crabbe could be our back-up SF of the future. And don't get me wrong. Wright does not impress me at all. Barton is a bit out of control for my liking as well. I would rather getting another vet back-up at SF.

I don't know...if one of Blake/Dame/CJ was playing SF at one point last night for 3 minutes, I don't know why Robinson couldn't. Or Barton, for that matter.

They're giving CJ rope right now. He's not doing a whole lot with it, but he isn't even a half-season into his career yet, and many of those games weren't in high-leverage minutes. How about we give him, say, 10% of the season to evaluate him? And honestly, this stretch of 8 games to start is about as difficult as any team will have at any point the season (aside from being at home), so it should be a decent test.

Not confused a all. Early in the season the bench should be used deeper so guys have a feel for playing together. That prepares them for times when they may be needed. That's what the spurs do.

I would like to have CJ show his abilities with team. But I can also see Stotts' perspective about wanting to win and going with certain lineups.

Well you are clearly not lumped into the "lot" then. No worries.

Other than Wright and (big) maybe Freeland I am not sure who you would bench to play the guys. Long season though. They will get burn eventually.

Frankly, I think you'll see Leonar_ get some of the run Freeland's been getting to see if he can play. Same premise as CJ. You give lotto picks a bit more leeway than 2nds. Which is why Crabbe and Barton sit if they're not demonstrably better

By not playing them they can't hurt their trade value.

It was hinted last year that it was an IQ issue. TRob was having trouble learning the plays.

I imaginge Olshey is busy right now. I don't think Will, Victor or TRob are playing because they will be traded. Stotts likes CJ, Wright, Freeland, Leonard and Crabbe much more

As far as write, after Lillard spoke up about losing all his close friends I don't think the team wants to get rid of write, who I think is Lillards best friend left on the team.

Barton will get a shot soon if CJ doesn't elevate his play. T-rob I think is out unless an injury occurs,
