What's the deal with T. Rob and Barton?

As far as write, after Lillard spoke up about losing all his close friends I don't think the team wants to get rid of write, who I think is Lillards best friend left on the team.

You're saying that this whole thread is about trying to read the writing on the wall. Very clever there.

It was hinted last year that it was an IQ issue. TRob was having trouble learning the plays.

If it was an IQ issue then Victor Claver would be suiting up.
Not much of a higher IQ player on the Blazers than him.. Maybe Blake?
Stotts likes shooting plain and simple. If you can't shoot for Stotts you're not going to get playing time.
That's why Nards will get playing time when he recovers from his "cold".. And why T-rob will rarely get on the court.

As for Barton. CJ higher pick going to get the run to see if he can play. Right now he's rushing things and needs to calm down.
CJ Looks like a Freshman in high school who made varsity and is playing their first game.

I had always hoped that TRob would turn into a decent backup. Turns out he's another Kansas product. Barton if he's given a chance either does nothing or goes off. Can someone explain why we have so many guards on this team?

Everyone panicked last year too but stotts just gave each deep bench guy a shot for like 2 weeks then switched to the next guy. He develops the bench without using all 5 back ups at once.

Stotts is a typical Blazer coach who picks the boring do-nothing vet over guys that are more of a wild card that can make plays and mistakes.

When your stars have been in the league for a decade plus the coach can use more experimental young players. But with lillard being so young and the rest of the starters just entering their prime, I think Stotts is right to be cautious with the backups and go for experience over excitement

If you look at Stotts' coaching history he has never used a deep rotation and his starters have always played heavy minutes. And that isn't just his pattern coaching the Blazers.

TRob has a very low basketball IQ. That's been a problem for every team he has played for and even coming out of college. That's why he keeps getting bounced around the league.

I dont get why that is hard to see, and it makes sense in a win now scenario to do it that way. You developed the bench while giving yourself the best chance to win. Now if we were plagued with injuries like okc id expect us to say fuck it and set goals to bench development and high draft picks.

That would be an interesting theory if we actually had plays that players were expected to learn. Our offense is all free-lance and no substance - there's nothing to learn except how to shoot a jump shot.
