Whats with the Nickelback hate?

No, you need to have talented musicians. There are other bands than U2, Radiohead, and Nickleback out there. In fact, most entertainers are passive idiots (and a lot of them do make fantastic music), so I don't see your point.</p>

Nicklebakc is THE WORST band out today. No band is more overplayed, or is more annoying. Everytime i hear there songs i picture Chad Kroegers face and me bashing it in with a hammer. They are stupid rednecks who should have just done country music instead of mainstream rock so no one would hear about them. seriously...is there a band who writes worse lyrics than them?? i would rather hear what Brittany spears has to say in one of her songs than Nickleback. All they sing about is how they wish they were cool, cause they all came to the realization that their a bunch of fricken tools and no one likes them...except for avril lavigne fans apparently...</p>

And as for the best voice in rock....That would be Maynard Keenan from tool. Not one can argue that, no one has a better voice in any style of music.</p>

I personally enjoy listening to Nickelback. I think they make some very good songs, and while they may not be the most musically talented people, they're still not too horrible. Beyond that, they put on a great live performance. I've seen them twice now and they haven't disappointed me either time.</p>

What I find amusing is; 1) all the hip-hop/rap fans bashing Nickleback. Talk about a overhypped and overated genre. Give me Warrant over Jay Z, give me Ratt over 50 Cent. 2) The title of this partcular forum makes it seems like there is music and hip-hop is an after thought, a red headed step child if you will.</p>

Don't even get me started about County music.</p>

Until I get some conclusive, tangibleproof that Maynard orPatton is better than GT, I will remain unconvinced. I've seen a few polls and GT always comes in the top 5. Inaddition to Geddy, Ronnie, & Geoff, I'll add Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden tomy subjective list of best vocalists.</p>

Nickleback is everything that is wrong with modern pop-rock. First things first Chad Kroeger has horrible generically pop-rock lyrics. " And this is how you remind me, of what I really am..." "remember the arcade, blew every dollar we ever made" Chad Kroeger lyrically is like what horrible mainstream rap artist do. Example: "shoot him in da head, know he's dead, cuz I gotta make my bread...blah blah blah generic shit" Chad Kroeger has an annoying voice, insanely gritty and he sings through his nose which sounds gargled and insanely hickish. The music all sounds the same. here is a nickleback song. Quiet generic rock chord verse, power chorus with him singing "passionately" repeat that twice, then there will be a bridge where he says something "oh goddd, why....." and then back to the chorus. Take a look at that link, its a joke, they recycle their horribl generic stuff to their fans and they don't even notice it! I also have a big loss of respect for them because they used to hold tehmselves as a hard rock band and all that crap but they know have no problem being glamorized as radio pop bs.</p>

Bruce Dickinson has some insane pipes, its mind blowing and the craziest thing is he has been doing it for over 20 years and his voice sounds just as strong as on albums like 7th son or Powerslave!</p>

I think what makes people annoyed by Nickelback is that they are given so much airplay. What they are doing is fine within its own context, except there are dozens of better bands out there that don't get heard. Nickelback is creating songs that sound exactly the same because that is what keeps them paid by thousands of listeners who are captive to Clear Channel radio stations, Muzak tapes, etc. It's non-controversial, and fills a "genre" slot when pencil neck marketing directors are pressed to add music to a particular need.</p>

First of all, let's just settle this; Matt Bellamy has the best voice in music today.

Secondly, I despise Nickelback. I don't really need a reason, but all the responses in this thread are all equally reason enough.</p>

Thirdly, stop bashing Sloth's taste in music; he actually has a pretty good taste outside Avril and Nickelback.</p>
