Let AFA walk.
Sign Hood.
Trade Lillard and some for Pelicans #1.
Umm. 1. OK! 2. Uhhh Id like him to stay but who knows what he gets offered. 3. No.... Come on man, Dame isnt a super hero or anything like that to me, but trading him for #1 would be silly. I would’d be hard pressed to trade Dame for AD and the #1.... Dame needs to be a Blazer lifer.

Here is my thoughts who I resigned between Kanter Hood Curry.
I would sign Hood first
Kanter would be next one up
Curry I would let walk due you got Simons and Trent can probably be better than Curry
If I keep layman it be QO
Aminu I think Olshey will let walk like Davis
Dame-Simons
CJ-Trent
Hood-Turner-Layman
Zach-Skals
Nurk-Leonard maybe Kanter
I would try make trade Harkless
Due to our cap situation I don't see much movement

I appreciate your love for Dame Im a huge fan also.
I think his commitment to the City starts with the Team management and coaching, then fans.
But through the years of watching NBA (late 50's) super stars are tradable depending on what the organization's plan are. Ive seen some of the biggest traded when you wouldn't think it could happen.
If this team could acquire a Zion you'd have to give it a serious consideration. IMO

WTF?????????
I knew I would turn a few head with #3.

Im a huge Dame fan and would rather we keep him for long term. However players are assets and anytime you have an opportunity to possibly get a player with Zions talent you have to look at it.

I dont like it, not just because of Dame, but Zion hasnt played a single NBA minute yet. I think he may be really good, but he could be really good and still never be as good as Dame.

its possible for sure, but I would think there will be a number of all stars offered to the Pels for the opportunity to pry him lose.

Maybe CJ and stuff to make the caps work, but no they wont receive “superstar” top 10ish players for the #1, at least Id be surprized.

I'm not saying Zion will be a bust, because I would be surprised if he isn't really good. However, I don't think he's going to be a top-10 to 15 type player in the league either. He'll make and be a starter in All-Star games because of the dunks and the hype from fan voting but never as a reserve from the coaches votes.

My question is why care about re-signing Hood if we are going to do something like that though?

Smoothtalking sales pitches.

Come on man. We have been over this. Know its difficult but mostly it depends on whether they will take less or not.

Im hoping they do.
Trade turner and leonard and possible picks for space.

Why you making me to go over this again when you know there are x factors, intangibles that no one can answer right now?
Right.

"Hey Seth, take 700% less to stay here!"

It wouldn't surprise me at all. I actually think other teams would be interested.
If he were to leave suddenly I would expect Dame & CJ to re-evaluate the state of the franchise.
Did you the hug Dame gave Neil after after game 7. Those two are tight.
Dame may be the guy that need a change of scenery.
Why would it even change the state of a franchise? That makes no sense. All of a sudden Dame would leave because Olshey left? And youre saying we should trade Dame?

Are you okay? Haha.

His commitment to the city starts with his personality, then with the people around him, then with the organization as a whole. Olshey leaving affects maybe one of that for the worse (but probably not).

Trade ET, Harkless, Skal, Trent, 2019/2021 1st round picks for Aldridge and Belinelli

Re-Sign Hood, Kanter, Layman, and Aminu.

That Layman gets the chance to build on his .579 eFG% . Completely different scenarios and different types of shots but compare that to CJ at .527 and Damian at .522. The Blazers are starved for a wing who can hit shots and create space for Dame/CJ and Layman showed a lot of times that when he got minutes and especially if he made a shot early, he could really heat up in a hurry.

Portland is starved for a wing who can hit three's for sure, but nothing I've seen tells me Layman is that wing. He shot 32.6% this season which is worse than Aminu, Collins, and Stauskas. He's a career 30% shooter from deep. And in his 4 year college career he attempted 547 three's and only shot 36% from that college 3 point distance.

to this point, if he's shown anything it's that he's a below average shooter from the arc who can occasionally get hot (like just about every shooter can), but always cools off dramatically. I don't mind if Portland brings him back if they sign for something like a 2 year deal at 2-3M year. Then he's a tradeable asset. He's an 'Olshey guy' so I'm assuming he'll be back, but I have little faith he's the floor spacer Portland needs.

Scarey thought. The general rule of thumb is that coaches/GMs have a very limited shelf life. If Dame's loyalty is contingent on Stotts and Olshey holding the team hostage, that is an untenable situation. I hope you are wrong.

Then again, how often does anybody connected to the NBA consider the fans a priority?

This will piss people off - but - my prediction is that Olshey uses the WCF appearance to seek a job with another team. Better for him if he can just dump this cap mess on somebody else. If he stays, expect him to be very conservative.

I don't really care if he leaves, I just worry that the team will fumble the situation.

The whole Lakers fiasco led me to the same thought. I'm sure he'd love to get back to LA and he's probably viewed as an ascending GM. I'm not sure Jeanne Buss would ax Pelinka this summer, but with that organization, who knows.

I'm not sure there is room for a guy like Butler on this team. The starting lineup already has three scorers and two of them are high volume shooters/usage players. In some ways, I think Dame/CJ/Nurk are still figuring out how to play together, and adding a similar like-minded scorer might muddy things up more. 3D guy. We've been coveting one for a long time, and to me, it makes the most sense as an off season goal.

Huh? Not room for a great dedender who can shoot decently and make plays and score?

Imagine if Butler was our outlet out of the trap instead of Harkless.

Why would we trade an actual superstar for a guy that has a chance of becoming a superstar ?

Regardless, this is going to be the most important off-season in over a decade. I hope Neil is able to do something well, instead of bargain hunt his way from the WCF back into a 1st-round exit sort of team.
Weird. I'm guess I'm in the opposite camp.
I think NEXT offseason is the most important offseason. MY hope is that we don't F up next offseason
by trying to "be aggressive" this offseason.

Not sure what it says about me, but I agree with Hoopsjock on this.
You realize that a lot of “experts” in the media use a ton of hyperbole.
Well this guy is not Andrew Bogut or Greg Oden or Anthony Bennett which are pretty much the only top picks in the last 20 years that were not a top 15 player in the league(Guess you could also say that for John Wall) . But i guess time will tell here?
The way i see it is this guy will have a huge impact. He is that good and has a bunch of people around him that are trying to keep him moving in the right direction.

That's the way i look at it also. This summer is hold and make incremental increases. Although getting a replacement for Aminu might not be "Incremental".
