When did you start being a fan of the NBA?

Since I was born. Really the only sport my dad was interested in. He liked football too but the Cardinals sucked so bad that really didn't matter. I had a basketball hoop in my room when I was 3 and had basketball shoved down my throat since I first came out. And I loved it.

I've always watched basketball, my parents always had it on so I always watched, NBA or NCAA. Didnt become a Mavs fan untill 2000-2001ish

Since I started watching the great Bulls team. It was 1992 when I saw the Blazers/Bulls series which was the finals. My brother got me to watch it. I've been a fan since.

I have always liked basketball, but I became a real fan of the NBA when the Suns had Marbury on the team, the same year they traded for Marion.

The reason I started liking basketball really wasn't so much from watching it as a child, but from always playing it. Started playing with my friends when i was little, didnt seriously start watching basketball until around 1996 when the Jazz went to the Finals against the Bulls. My mom was a big John Stockton/Karl Malone fan so I started watching them. Became a Mavs fan the year they drafted Dirk and after I went to a game his rookie season. I remember after seeing that game, i wanted to play like he did. Shooting 3's and shooting from the outside as a post player. All my life while playing organized basketball, i've always played the 4 or 5 spot. When i started out, i wanted to play like Karl Malone. After seeing Dirk, I started trying playing like him.

The three things that got me to be a fan of the NBA were...-My first game ever was a Sixers vs Raptors game during the lock-out season I think. I remember Hughes had a great game. - Micheal Jordan. I mean seriously which kid didn't idolize Jordan growing up. - Shaq. One of my first games I ever saw was the Shaq hook shot over Karl Malone to win the game in the last game of the 98 season. It was amazing. I remember my dad was rooting for Malone and he was screaming, and I was like YAY to piss him off. It's all history from there. The next game I saw was Game 1 of the Lakers-Rockets series first round in 98. Shaq sneaks up on Cuttino Mobley for the game winning block. It was amazing. I don't really consider myself a hardcore NBA fan until around 01 or so. All I cared about was Jordan, Shaq, and the Sixers until then when I gained knowledge on just about every team.
