So, how come if I log in to the WiFi at the place we’re staying in Venice I get a notification that my ip address has been banned. Switch back to mobile and all is good. Did some Italian violate board rules or something?

We use a service that blocks IP addresses that spam the site. It's a list of 1000s of IP addresses so if you can get the IP address you're having problems with I can probably unblock it.

But, and I'm being serious, if you have the data I would only use mobile on your vacation. Using a local wifi is an invitation to be spied on and your personal information compromised.

It's generally not recommended to use public Wi-Fi while traveling because it can be unsafe:

  • Unsecured networks
Public Wi-Fi networks in hotels, airports, and cafes are often unencrypted, making it easy for cybercriminals to intercept data.

  • Risk of identity theft
Hackers can collect information from your online activity to steal your identity.

  • Risk of bank account theft
Cybercriminals can intercept your banking details and take over your accounts.

  • Risk of malware
Unsecured networks can distribute malware that can lead to data breaches, identity theft, or device damage.
If you need to use Wi-Fi while traveling, you can:

  • Use a VPN
A virtual private network (VPN) encrypts your data and creates a private connection between your device and the websites you visit.

  • Use a data plan
You can purchase a data plan to use on your phone.

  • Use apps that work offline
Some apps, like translation apps, conversion apps, and maps, can work without a connection.

  • Avoid sensitive transactions
Don't use hotel Wi-Fi to access banking services, make online purchases, or enter sensitive information.

That’s Appalachia. Canby is more crappy steel guitar.
Remember going to The Spinning Wheel with my Aunt/Uncle when I turned 21. They were friends with Pat Pattee from KISN radio. It wasn't my kind of place however.

Here is the correct answer.

Look at Trump and Biden. You can do politics into your 80s.

Run for Canby city council. You can play instruments so picking up the banjo shouldn't be too hard.

Sit on the city council for a few terms, then when you turn 65 run for mayor.

Are you kidding me? With my tongue, Id be assassinated so quick.

Become a rock star. Mick Jagger is 80 and Ringo 84.

I laugh at my musical peers my age that think they are gonna become a rock star. Like anyone becomes a rock star at our age.

The individuals you listed became rock stars in thier 20's and somehow managed to find the fountain of youth, but they didn't become rock stars at 80 and 84. I try to be realistic with my music. Odds are much better I improve my engineering skills enough I can go into business for myself as a recording producer.

Obviously.
I was, of course, joking.

My mom has an estranged step brother who was a career criminal. She hadn’t seen him in close to 30 years. We were staying in Manzanita one time and we walked by this little bar and it had a sign with his name out front saying he was performing that night. She was so curious if it was actually him or someone with the same name so she came that night just to peak her head inside.

It was him. She did research and found he’d been playing music in bars and cafe’s up and down the Oregon coast.

Everybody in the family just figured he was in jail because he’d spent most his life being a petty thief and was in and out of jail.

Thats awesome of your Uncle. Way to turn things around and live a life of his (assumed) passion instead of heading down the wrong path.
You should round up your family and go see one of his performances.
As someone who has played dozens and dozens of shows of various sizes, yes it is awesome to see strangers come and support and enjoy, but it is something extra special when its the ones you grew up with and know on very personal levels. They know the struggles, and to feel that support has near brought a tear to my eye on stage more than once.
Like when my stepfather came to our last show up in Tacoma before he passed away. I knew he was sick, but he had never seen me perform and so he hauled the oxygen tank out to the club to see me.
Works me up now just thinking and typing about it.

Go see him perform. I guarantee he will feel the love and be thankful.

There was a lot of bad blood between the family and him. My grandparents house in N Portland was ransacked in the 80’s and to this day many of my moms siblings believe it was he who did it.

He knew where stuff was that only few were privy to and some of the items taken were very personal.

It was at the same time that he had been arrested for other burglaries. My mom is really protective. She probably wanted to fight him.

I figured as much but seriously. I know alot of 50+ musicians not even very talented who think their time is gonna come.
Im like, “it went on and passed you sooo many years ago!”… lol
This! I did my last paid gig in 2003...was 49 then. I'm just glad I was a working musician for as long as I was, but only a few times could I quit my day job along the way. Always had teaching to fall back on. Old musicians throughout my life all say either teach or open a club when you're time is waning. Open a club and you can gig every night if you like they'd say. I think producing young talent is a great option. I don't have the ears to do that anymore. Gone almost deaf in one ear. Comedian Marsha Warfield had a joke that an old man might be able to make love for a long time but the problem is nobody wants to make love to an old man for a long time.

Ahhh sorry to hear that. Then yeah I get it. Its on him to man up and apologize.

Do you know how much you could make if you record the fight and it goes viral? I mean not enough to retire from but maybe a nice vacation.

I just recently retired (June) and I'm about 10 years older than you. Anything I say is my opinion and worth what it has cost you ($0). If you are not on a monthly budget, do so. Just start an Excel spreadsheet of income & $ out. Have a plan and work the plan. Both you and your wife need to communicate about money/bills & what the future(retirement) looks like for the both of you. Most importantly is being on the same page. Retirement is not about how much money you have as it is about how much is needed to live on. Have no debit. This is huge. Healthcare is going to be your biggest expense if you are retiring prior to Medicare (65yr). Your health is everything later in life, so take care of your self physically now. Social Security should NOT be what you are hoping to live on alone. Jan 2035, it is expected to have a shortfall of 17%. Learn all there is to know about money and how to grow what you have. I'd recommend several websites that have retirement software. I use both. Empower.com, it is a great free software that is geared towards wealth building. The other is Boldin.com, it costs ~$120/yr. It is better at letting know if you are on track to retire with confidence. It has a free trial. Best wishes!

When you go bald, it's time to retire.

But if you lean conservative, you should probably retire when you get down to 3/32" of tread.

I have a full head of hair and I retired.
