Cashman and the organization chose the following

Hafner 2,000,000
Overbay 875,000
Youkilis 12,000,000
Wells, 24,000,000 * Angels paying most
Suzuki 6,500,000

Total 45,275,000 * MINUS Angel Contribution which is large I know

As compared to

Swisher 1B 14,000,000
AJ C 7,500,000
Reynolds 3B 6,000,000
Hunter OF 13,000,000

Total 40,500,000

But look at the production difference plus I would rather have Swisher at 4 than Suzuki for 2. Could have still added Overbay without making a difference.

You could have stopped at cashman. However i am glad they let swish walk. He is no 14mill player.

Overbay has been one of the Yankees most productive players this year so I have no problem with him. Besides the money was right. also though I probably wouldn't have given him the 2nd year I'm also okay with Ichiro.

The best thing they did was not sign Swisher to a four year deal. They finally let some other team pay somebody off and not get value for their money.

The Yankees were in on Hunter, but at age 37 and with Granderson here and everyone wanting Ichiro back and Gardner returning it made little sense, but they sure could use him now, can't kill NY for that though.

Everyone else is a pass, even now.
