In today's New York Daily news they printed the top 25 free agents, where they may end up & for how much. Do you agree?

1) - Max Scherzer = Cubs 6 years $150M
2) - Jon Lester = Cubs 6 years $150M
3) - Yasmany Tomas = Phillies 6 years $100M
4) - Pablo Sandoval = Giants 5 years $95M
5) - James Shields = Red Sox 4 years $75M
6) - Nelson Cruz = Orioles 4 years $75M
7) - Hanley Ramirez = Dodgers 4 years $68M
8) - Russell Martin = Pirates 4 years $60M
9) - Melky Cabrera = Toronto 4 years $60M
10) - Victor Martinez = Tigers 4 years $55M
11) - David Robertson = Nationals 4 years $52M
12) - Ervin Santana = Royals 3 years $42M
13) - Nick Markakis = Orioles 3 years $36M
14) - Chase Headley = Yankees 3 years $36M
15) - Adam LaRoche = Marlins 2 years $32M
16) - Aramis Ramirez = Red Sox 2 years $30M
17) - Asdrubal Cabrera = Nationals 3 years $30M
18) - Brandon McCarthy = Yankees 3 years $27M
19) - Andrew Miller = Tigers 3 years 27M
20) - Francisco Liriano = Pirates 2 years 26M
21) - Michael Morse = Royals 2 years $26M
22) - Jake Peavy = Giants 3 years $24M
23) - Michael Cuddyer = Mets 2 years $24M
24) - Jason Hammel = Braves 2 years $20M
25) - Edinson Volquez = Pirates 2 years $20M

All I can say is, are the Cubs really going to throw $300M on 2 players
#6 Nelson Cruz, almost $19M per? hell apparently crime pays.
#7 Hanley Ramirez 4 years @ $17M per? not happening.
#8 Russell Martin $15M per? sorry I just don't see it.
#9 Melky Cabrera $15M per (see #6)
#11 David Robertson $13M per I can see this since the Nats didn't pick up Soriano's option.
#14 Chase Headley $12M per, I don't see it happening.
#21 Michael Morse Royals? I'd like to see him remain a Giant.
#22 Jake Peavy 3 years? Make it 2 & I'll be okay.

Okay there's my take, what do you guys think?

I think the Yankees end up with scherzer, 7/175

I'd like to see the giants bring in McCarthy instead of peavy

I don't see Scherzer getting the same deal as Lester. He seems a lot more valuable. :dunno:

Morse can probably get more being in a DH role than a spot-start, PH role. He was atrocious in the field...and that was 2 years ago.

I think Cuddyer ends up a Mariner. If Tomas is "only" 16M per, SEA might be in on it.

I guess Billy Butler isn't a Top 25? I guess I could see that.

I think the added value to Lester is that he's a lefty. And you're right about Morse's fielding but I'd still like to see him stay with the Giants.

One thing that bothers me about watching Max pitch is simple: I see over extension of pro-nation in his shoulder, elbow and even wrist. I would not be surprised at all if Max blows his shoulder, or elbow out in the next 2 years. Not that I want to see any player hurt, in the call of duty. Yet I rarely see pro-nation as extreme as Max's, not since Valenzuela's Screw Ball, and Max doesn't even throw a screw ball.

Yet, I wish Max the best, a long healthy career. May he one day soon be a Yankee. I'd not balk if he were. Now if he joins the Bosox, he will be enemy #1.

I just scratch my head as I watch teams (Yanks included) constantly recycling these fading, meciocre ham & eggers who have already reached their peak for tens of millions of dollars...a couple on the list such as Jason Hammel and Jake Peavy.

The best they could be are placeholders in a rotation - a warm body who most of the time can give you 4 - 5(+) innings..it's ridiculous.

I can see filling a hole here or there ON THE FIELD and IN THE LINEUP with a journeyman/fading/mediocre player, but there is an extra added value and importance to a SP because it is a limited spot (1 of 5) in a rotation-

UNLESS "my" team has 3 or 4 VERY GOOD young starters who aren't earning big money yet,
..I would not/never sign any Peavy-Hammel types except if it's considerably LESS than 9-10 million per year.

Get some kid up here and let him go...if or when he reaches the wall, call another one up to fill out the season.

In this way, you'll save money AND you'll be giving at least ONE young pitcher from your org a solid legitimate chance to blossom.

Teams would be better served
