IF Simmons became a Blazer, what position would you want him to play?

Play him at shooting guard, let him learn to shoot.

He’s a PF who handles the ball a ton and can bring the ball up, initiate the offense etc. Not center. I am curious why some think he’d be a great pick n roll/pop guy with Lillard. I feel like as a defender you pretty much know exactly what to give up with Ben - a shot. Like anything outside ten feet you leave him alone.
Yep defense will collapse and it would be 5 on 4. They will have to respect his size and ability to pass though. He is not Aminu.

And? I didn’t see any pick and rolls in the first few mins. Second, highlight videos don’t do it for me. You could make an amazing highlight video of CJ. Like Hall of Fame worthy

aaand watch it again then. Its right at the two minute mark. If thats not a picknroll i dunno what is.

acquire ben simmons and trade nurk to brooklyn or lakers so he can win the chip

Personally, I would wait it out and play part of the season and see where Anfernee and Little are at. There have been enough changes that I’m fine running it back. If CJ has a similar start to the season like last year and we could shed the picks requirement, I do the straight up deal.
If we had him though, I’m starting Dame/Powell/Covington/Simmons/Nurkic. Then I’d sub in Anfernee for Powell and Nance for Nurkic with 4-5 minutes left in Q1. When Dame isn’t in game, a lineup I want to see is Simmons/Simons/Powell/Little/Nance where Simmons plays PG. If Little takes a leap in his consistency from 3, the defense and ability to shoot of this lineup could wear other benches out.
I would also consider keeping Nurk to see the fit with Simmons before I look at a Boucher. If Nurk fits, great. If not, Nurk and a combination of an improved Little/Simons/all of our picks after 2022 could land another big name. But the first domino would have to be Simmons and I don’t see any harm in waiting it out until Phili is desperate. Outside of maybe Haliburton and maybe Brodgon, I don’t see anyone available to be excited about if it’s not CJ.

Aminu also can't create a shot for himself, or others, to save his life. There is not a single GM in the history of the NBA that would take Aminu over Ben Simmons.

The fact that Billups would have the option to play him at 5 different positions is an argument for why we would want to trade for him. Especially since we'd be trading him for a guy who plays 1.5 positions on offense and 0.5 positions on defense.

Totally with you on that... I was just saying he's capable. I'd also play him on Embiid when we play the Sixers both because it's the right match up and because it's great drama.

Tbh, I am disturbed by people’s lack of faith in Dame’s ability to judge player’s strengths and weaknesses, and to get the best out of his teammates. Clearly Dame agrees with me on the potential with Simmons, hence he liked that Twitter post. Dame of course is aware his social media is under scrutiny and he is EXTREMELY savvy when it comes to social media. Everyone hating on Simmons is straight up saying they know better than Dame about how Simmons would fit in the team. I find that laughable.
Disturbed? You've got to be fucking kidding me. This is one of the worst attempts I've seen from someone trying to prop up their opinion and put down others.

You're going off about a liked tweet from a guy who wouldn't have traded Plumlee and Nurk for a pick? The guy who said he'd still have Pavlovic on the team? The guy that was raving about Swanigan? How's the greatest player of all time as a GM/owner? Just because someones a great player doesn't make them a great roster constructor. I can't believe people still try to directly correlate the two.

Overall, this is a bullshit paragraph and I can't believe you said this shit unironically. Using your logic, you must think Westbrook is a great fit on the Lakers, or else you think you know more about basketball than LeBron. What a ridiculous way to try and prop yourself up.

Yep it’s amazing to contemplate what can be done with the right personnel and a creative coach. Sad so many don't see it, but they are mostly a noisy minority based on polls. Some of them aren't even worthy of a response on any topic.

I’ve been envisioning exactly this scenario and if the trade goes down it definitely could happen. Blazers in a magnificent series of 7 with Lillard hoisting the Larry O’Brien.

How much is he really worth ? 10M a year? Even that seems high given his current stats.
