I was born in Lima, Peru but I know nothing about the place (I moved here when I was 3). USA blows it out of the water.

<div class="quote_poster">Locke Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I'm from Singapore.</div>

We sail tonight for Singapore,
we're all as mad as hatters here
I've fallen for a tawny Moor,
took off to the land of Nod
Drank with all the Chinamen,
walked the sewers of Paris
I danced along a colored wind,
dangled from a rope of sand
You must say goodbye to me

We sail tonight for Singapore,
don't fall asleep while you're ashore
Cross your heart and hope to die
when you hear the children cry
Let marrow bone and cleaver choose
while making feet for children shoes
Through the alley, back from hell,
when you hear that steeple bell
You must say goodbye to me

Wipe him down with gasoline
'til his arms are hard and mean
From now on boys this iron boat's your home
So heave away, boys

We sail tonight for Singapore,
take your blankets from the floor
Wash your mouth out by the door,
the whole town's made of iron ore
Every witness turns to steam,
they all become Italian dreams
Fill your pockets up with earth,
get yourself a dollar's worth
Away boys, away boys, heave away

The captain is a one-armed dwarf,
he's throwing dice along the wharf
In the land of the blind
the one-eyed man is king, so take this ring

We sail tonight for Singapore,
we're all as mad as hatters here
I've fallen for a tawny Moor,
took off to the land of Nod
Drank with all the Chinamen,
walked the sewers of Paris
I drank along a colored wind,

LOL, now I'm downloading this song. Tom Waits, eh?

I'm as mixed as one can be as far as nationality goes, but most predominantly, I have American (yes, Native American) and Nordic blood in me.

This is where it all began though (

I was born in Paris, France (there goes my presidency...) but they were on vacation so I am in no way, shape or form of french descent. My father's from the Carribean (Jamaica, I believe) and a quarter Cuban. My mom is half brazilian and Filipino. I have no clue of the percentages so don't bother.

What an ignorant statement!

My mother was born in Brooklyn, raised in Jamaica, Queens. And my father was born and raised in Jamaica. I was born and raised in New York City, U.S.

Born on the south side of Chicago, first in the US from my family. Recent family comes from Germany and Italy. I'm also Swedish, Israeli, English, Irish, and probably numerous other Nationalities. I have to do a background check because I may also be Polish and Norwegian.

I've got some Norwegian blood on one side of my family. We're practically related...

My dad's folks came from Germany, my mom's came from Norway. It's cool to still have grandparents who can talk about the old country and speak the native tongue

And it doesn't hurt my party ability to have German blood

M Two One, you are AMERICAN.

Why is it that Americans always talk about their ethnic history as opposed to the country where they were born? Not hating, just curious. No other country does that. For example, my Mom has some French heritage, my old man has some English heritage, however, I don't say I'm Irish-French-English. I'm Irish, that's it....
I know U.S. is a melting-pot, but...

Isn't that the point of this thread - to discuss ethnic history? I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Umair, the thread starter, is an American citizen with Pakistani heritage. Unless you're 100% Native American, your heritage is more complex than simply "American."

Oh Okay.
I thought it was where you were born.
So I get to be French?
RIght on....

Let's sing a drunken song shall we?

Iron man, Iron man, fait tout ce qu'Iron man peut, Fait caca par terre, coupe tes boules et les met dans un sandwich, attention voici Iron man!

Scary.

caca is a little too close to the Spanish word for s**T.

Can you translate the following into French?

"Pardon me, fair maiden, I want to know you, but I can be a bit wild, like a beast, or an uncaged animal, and I warn you I may crush you"

I actually liked that movie - most people said it would suck, but far less a disappointment than many other films I've seen lately
dunno.gif

I can't wait for PotFest, though, if that's for real - Super Troopers is easily their best movie, and I can imagine that becoming a worthy #2 :coold:

Oh, and I did a boot one time, but it wasn't quite that big and I couldn't quite chug it. I am, for all my drinking prowess, not a great volume drinker. But I'll match shots with anyone! Come, on! Let's go!

"American" is not such a great term either... There is South and North America, but no single country called "America". "USAian" or "United Stater" doesn't sound that good though...

United States of America

We've been called Americans for how many years and now you're going to start complaining (I know you're Swedish)
lol.gif

I am aware of that. Doesn't change my opinion though, and I know others feel the same.

<div class="quote_poster">Bahir Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I am aware of that. Doesn't change my opinion though, and I know others feel the same.</div>

Yeah I know many South Americans that are annoyed with the term.

However, at the same time there is this white South African guy I know that calls himself an "African-American" to piss people off.

Both languages descended from Latin so they each have similarities. Also Italian, Portuguese and Romanian are Latin origin languages.

When you translate English into French it won't always come out exact. This is the best I can do to make it read out right.

"Pardonnez-moi, jeune fille, je voudrais vous conna?tre, mais je peux ?tre un peu sauvage, comme une b?te, ou un animal en libert?, et je vous pr?viens, il se peut que je vous ?crase."
