Which ex-Blazer would you be happy to get back? (1 Viewer)

I would want them back in this order for this year only ignoring contracts:

C: Jermaine Oneal, Jeff Ayres(Pendergraph), Greg Oden, Hasheem Thabeet
PF: Zach Randolph, JJ Hickson, Channing Frye, Dante Cunningham, Josh McRoberts
SF: Martell Webster, Gerald Wallace, Travis Outlaw, James Jones
SG: Rudy Fernandez, Jarred Bayless, Jamal Crawford
PG: Jarrett Jack, Andre Miller, Patty Mills, Steve Blake, Serio Rodriguez, Eric Maynor, Raymond Felton,

Rudy was so much fun to watch his first season with the team. He and Sergio had our second unit humming. Unfortunately Rudy was never the same after Ariza dropped him.

Yeah that first year I thought he was a far better player than Batum.... His final year here I think he was underrated, yes his shot never got back to being as accurate as we hoped but he did a great job on pick and roles and would get teammates easy dunks. Had good basketball IQ. I wonder what he'd be like in Terry's offense.

Roy and Dame could never share the backcourt. It wouldn't work.

What would Roy have looked like in an offense without Nate McMillian? I remember being blown away in the All-star game when Roy and CP3 were playing off each other. Maybe there wouldn’t been a long adjustment but it’d have been fun to see. Roy and Dame could both shoot unlike Andre Miller so pairing them might’ve worked out eventually. LeBron and Wade had a lot of trouble playing with each other at first but now they are lethal.

Dame plays quite well off the ball. Roy flourished with the ball in his hands. They would complement each other really well IMO. They both trake pressure off the other to be the lone ball handler, both can shoot lights out. If we had a core of a healthy roy, Dame and LMA we'd be a legit contender maybe even the team to beat this year

One problem, Roy would have been unhappy. He didn't even want Andre Miller on the team, and favored starting Steve Blake over Miller simply because Blakey was nothing more than a spot-up shooter. Dame is fulfilling the same role in our offense that Roy did, and while Dame is capable of playing off the ball at times, he still needs the ball in his hands. Do you think Dame would be happy to essentially move into a spot-up role with Roy? They both want the ball. They both want to run the offense. In theory they would play together, but I don't think it's something that could have worked long term. Not without one or the other becoming unhappy.

I mean, you are comparing miller to dame...its just silly

I'm not comparing Miller and Dame. They are only alike in that they want the ball in their hands. I'm comparing the situation. Do you not remember how resistant Roy was to having Miller start with him?

Roy clashing with miller has as much to do with lillard as apples and oranges do to each other

You can't just say that and then offer zero explanation of how it's different.

Oh, Apples and Oranges are both fruit, so maybe you do understand what I'm talking about?

Exactly, they are both guards, just like like blake

Miller and Dame are ball-dominant guards... Why do you think it would be different?
Miller was a pure pg, not so hot off the ball
Lillard is just fine off the ball

I seriously don't see where you are going with this. You might have a point and it might be valid but miller=dame isn't resonating, sorry

I totally get that they're different in how they handle an offense, but do you not agree that they both play better with the ball in their hands?

Roy wanted a point guard who would play off the ball, like Blake, for most of the game. Roy essentially played the point guard for us for most of the game. Lillard is fine off the ball, but do you think he would want to play off the ball for most of the game? I'm just trying to illustrate how Roy resisted playing with a point guard who wanted the ball. We saw it with Miller and I think he would have resisted it with Dame.

I think he would have seen lillard as a massive talent upgrade and would have been fine. He didn't bring the ball up every posession with Blake on the floor, its just that miller had to initiate the offense, or else he was kinda useless...not a problem dame has whatsoever, in fact you could say he needs work on the things Roy/ miller excelled in (post entry passes, beating pick and roll doubles) and is good at all of the things miller was not

Lillard might not have been ecstatic about Roy isos but he would have reaped the reward of wide open 3 balls, and let's just state the obvious...Roy was better than lillard, so he takes what he gets in that scenario, and aside from lillard throwing a fit, it would have worked fine imo

I just think Roy's ego would have taken over. He flexed his muscles quite a bit over his last year or so on the team and I think eventually he and Dame would have had problems. Just my two cents.

Quite possible, I'm not accounting for personality flaws, I just think on court wise it would have been great

Roy might have been better at his peak, but Lillard had a better rookie season and he's having a better sophomore season so far. I don't think Roy was necessarily better than Dame. Right now Lillard's shooting is off a bit, but I think that will level off before the end of the season.

Remains to be seen if Lillard can get to roys level, here's hoping though!

Also I dispute the assertion that lillard had better rookie or thus far soph #s
