Hey, the forward-looking aspect of this is half the fun. Obviously, this question is predicated on the roster remaining as-is for the next few weeks at least. C'mon--play along!!I'm not answering this until we know Brogdan and Ant are both here on opening night...

I'll be a contrarian and go with Brogdon/Ant. I could see Chauncey wanting to have an experienced lineup from the beginning, and then move Scoot and/or Sharpe into starting roles as the season progresses.Pretty obvious its going to be Scoot/Ant IMO.
Be very shocked if its anything else.
Ant we know will be here.... Brogdon could go either way.I'm not answering this until we know Brogdan and Ant are both here on opening night...

Do you guys really think we wouldn't start Scoot? Having Brogdon in front of him would be such a dumb idea in the grand scheme of things. Not only would it be a missed developmental opportunity in a year when we don't really care about winning, but it would indicate a team without a direction.

I think Scoot/Ant is a foregone conclusion; didn't even realize there was going to be a debate.
if Portland was going to start their best guards, at the time, it would be Brogdon/Ant. But the Blazers didn't draft Scoot, then trade Dame, to start with Scoot on the bench
Brogdon came off the bench all last season so he may be OK with it. But he'll probably be the best guard Portland has in October so maybe it might cause some friction.
Problem is that if Brogdon doesn't get consistent minutes of around 25/game it won't ease the worries other teams might have about his health
Yeah if Brogdon is playing over 20mpg and looks like his normal self I don't think there will be additional health/medical concerns.Eh, I think most teams know we're not keeping him. I think they understand that he's not part of our plans.
You could be right. I was just thinking about the pairings and how they all offer something different, and I figured it would be a question worth asking. Perhaps it's as foregone a conclusion as you presume...but maybe not?Do you guys really think we wouldn't start Scoot? I do. I think Brogdon is a pro, and there's value to learning how to play from him. I think if Brogdon stayed on the team (and I think he's gone before the trade deadline), Scoot would eventually replace him, but I think Malcolm starts.Do you guys really think we wouldn't start Scoot? We don't give one damn about winning. This season is about development and figuring out what we have. I want Scoot being spoonfed 30+ mpg from Day 1.You could be right. No it’s not FAMS. Thats why we so many GOD DAMN useless threads on this forum lately! To answer your question……Ant will be a starter and the teams leading scorer and leader. I believe Scoot gets the start next to him to be honest. I think he and Shae will play pretty much the same amount of minutes though.Hey, the forward-looking aspect of this is half the fun.

I don't disagree with this desire. Given the choice I'd want to start Scoot/Sharpe for that very reason. But we are not Coach Billups. He may have a different view than we do.We don't give one damn about winning. This season is about development and figuring out what we have. I want Scoot being spoonfed 30+ mpg from Day 1.
There is a bit less clarity with Sharpe replacing Ant because of a few reasons:I don't disagree with this desire. Given the choice I'd want to start Scoot/Sharpe for that very reason. But we are not Coach Billups. He may have a different view than we do.

I don't know if that's the case. Why couldn't he start but still get the Vonleh-esque 4-5 minutes at the beginning and end of each half, keeping his minutes in the 16-20 mpg range?I think they'll want to limit Brogdon's minutes and bringing him off the bench is the best way to do that.
