Can you name this guy,

He pitched in 164 more games than Cy Young, yet threw in 6,286 Less Innings.

-However-

Cy Young appeared in a total of 906 Games, Starting 815 of them, and 7,356 Innings, and had 749 Complete Games. A 511Win/-316Loss/ Career.

More Hints:
The Pitcher in Question had a 143-122 Won Loss Record, 227 Saves, and pitched in 1,070 Games. Only started 52 games, pitched 2,254 Innings. Threw only 20 Complete Games.

Can you name this HOF Pitcher????

BTW-He pitched from approximately 52-72

Matt, with all due respect, I can barely pay attention to players/stats comparisons from the Dead Ball Era and I
I just leave them be in their own time and place and OF COURSE compare them only to other players from that era.

It just doesn't translate for me, different world, different GAME.....kinda not interested.

I agree with your take on the dead ball era, versus the modern or live ball era. Total agreement..!! It's a dead moot point to compare either, I agree, a point I myself usually make, and often hear.

I should of said, here is one Hall of Famer, who has less than 200 Wins, (a discussion we had a week or so ago).

I was simply stunned, when I looked at this guys Games Totals.

Okaky...no bites.....here you go! I should of added this one to another post.

"Another feat we will never see again"...!!!

Hoyt Wilhelm played with 3 teams in All Star Games, for both the AL and NL. A total of 5 years worth of All Star Games, when as Ernie Banks said: “it’s a fine day, Let’s Play Two”. (All Star games in 59-62 were 2 game events). Wilhelm’s first A.S. game was in 53, his last in 1970. Hoyt won the Pitcher of the Year Award in 52 and 59, (known now as the ERA Leader Award). Cy Young award implementation began for the NL in 56, and AL in 58. Hoyt pitched thru the age of 49.

Hoyt had a 143-122 Won Loss Record, 227 Saves, and pitched in 1,070 Games. Only started 52 games, pitched 2,254 Innings. Threw only 20 Complete Games.

8 years on the Ballot, before he was voted in. A modern era workhorse if there ever was one.
