I was thinking about the hype of how good the west would be this season. As the season unfolds I don't really see it. I know Houston is damn good, so is Golden State but after those 2 how far off is Portland from being the 3rd best team... 4th Best etc... Is a match up against San Antonio something that really concerns you? How about the Eastern Conference?

Honestly none of the teams are scary unless GS can pick it back up and play like they did the past two seasons

None. Why be scared of another team? I loved gaurding D1 players in high school because I liked the challenge. Other kids would get scared of their talents. Guess what, if I can give more effort than you are talented, I can defend you.

That got off track, but I get what you mean by "scared"..

I said at the start of the year I think we can beat any team in a 7-game series except for Golden State. I maintain that.

Philly. Once they get healthy and some experience. Heaven help us if they get Lebron as a FA. I think they will be the successor to Golden State.

I'm sorry man, I just don't see us having enough talent to win a 7 game series against GS,SA,OKC,HOUS or MINNY. We are about on par with Denver, Utah, NOLA, Memphis.....but we wouldn't be playing them in the playoffs. Proud of our boys and what they've done so far, but I think things will even out a bit for us when the schedule toughens up in the new year.

ZzZzZzZzZzZzZz.

HCP. Never woke.

Melo and Westbrook aren't known for creating their own playoff success. That team is dysfunctional, and defense matters. Melo is a siege. Westbrook contests the lowest percentage of his mans' shots out of anyone in the league. Their Big 3 isn't cohesive. They have no bench. One of their Big 3 struggles, they lose.

We can't beat Minny? Seriously? Lmao. They can't defend. Defense matters. We've been saying it for years because our defense has sucked. Now we finally have a good defense (3rd) and people are saying we don't have enough talent to beat Minnesota and their 26th ranked defense?

Schedule isn't even the reason our defense is so good. We have the #1 ranked defense in the league against top 10 offenses. And our offense has under-achieved. We'll improve that as the schedule toughens up, we'll get Aminu back, and likely get better at the trade deadline.

Big names are usually based off what they do offensively. "Talent" is usually in reference to offensive skills.

Learn the game, then post my friend!

OKC is garbage right now. Just stop giving them props until they show up. They haven't shown us anything but a loss. Minny just lost at home to the the Wiz. A team we beat at their house with their best player out. We already beat Denver.
We're about to beat the Pelicans too.

We can't beat GS/HOU in a series, we could probably push SA/MIN/OKC pretty far, maybe steal a series from one if we get some lucky breaks.

I agree, we would lose to SAS and CLE too, those are the teams that would beat us for sure, with rest of the league we can play, win or lose

You know I'm reading your post as I'm watching the OKC vs Dubs game from last week.

Yeah, when you have three very good players you can pop off at any time. It's rare though. They're 8-11 for a reason, and to say we can't beat them over a 7-game series is ridiculous.

Also, OKC's season is hardly over. All they have to do is get hot and win 10 straight like Cleveland is doing and they'll be a top team in West.

When you have three stars like that, I just believe we wouldn't be able to handle them in a 7 game series. We might find out in the first round if we make the playoffs. I could see them being a 3 seed vs us at 6.

GS, Houston, Boston, Cleveland, Minn....

No SAS, because FUCK THEM!

OKC is not going to make up enough ground to get HCA this year. They're not good enough, the west is too strong. It's not going to happen.
If they were good enough to make up that much ground, they'd already be showing it.
The only teams in the West that are better than everyone else are the current 1-3.

gaurding.

Warriors, Rockets, Celtics, and Cavs. Nobody else.

I'm still afraid of whoever is a bottom 5 team in the league - we always seem to lose to them :(

There aren’t too many teams that Portland should feel confident beating 4/7 in the playoffs. I can’t think of any.

Well shit you almost sound like HCP in his post talking about OKC. To bad you can't see it.

Gs, Houston, cavs, Boston. The other ones I think we have a chance to win if we play hard.

You overrate MIN, SAS, and OKC. And you underrate us. I agree with you that OKC should be better than they currently are. But I'd group the teams you mentioned thusly (no particular order within each group):

GS
HOU

SAS*
OKC
POR
MIN

UTH
MEM
NOP
DEN

*There are only two reasons SAS could be bumped up to Top Tier: 1) Pops and 2) Kawhi. Other than that, they're a mid-tier team at best.
