(CNN)The White House announced Thursday evening that Qassim al-Rimi, the leader of terror group al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, was killed in an airstrike in Yemen.

CNN reported last week that the US conducted a strike targeting Rimi, who led the terror group's franchise based in Yemen that has repeatedly expressed interest in conducting attacks targeting the United States, a US official said. The Pentagon did not comment when asked at the time about the report.
The US government had offered a $10 million reward for information on Rimi.

Sin nature dictates it will never be "solved" (if you believe in that stuff), but the concept is that holding bad guys at bay long enough to get some semblance of functioning society in place is worth fighting for?

There's a reticence to be "the world's police force", and I very much get that. I don't get, though, the concept of "because that really bad dude is far away and only killing people who don't look like me and setting up a society of oppression and evil, I don't have to worry about it" doesn't sit well with me.

I've said for 25 years I don't know why we weren't more prevalent in Rwanda or Sudan, helping the UN fight genocide.

Hard to find qualified and willing job candidates, the housing and health benefits are shit, and oh yeah, Trump keeps killing them off once they do fill the position.

Honestly, that would be bullshit. I can honestly say that I've done as much for Middle East peace over the past three years as Jared Kushner. It should at least be shared between us and anyone else who did as much for peace as Kushner.
