I'm sure the laws will protect him but good policing would see this incident as excessive force...you can disable this woman without killing her and she only had a pair of scissors...he had the gun trained on her for the whole argument...she had no element of surprise.. These things are case by case...not kill and ask questions later...you can also shoot and disable a person without killing them which is what cops are actually trained to do....this guy made a decision he can't take back....if he winged her he'd have her in cuffs not in an ambulance.

It's easy to do.....get some self defense training and you'll see...you don't need a gun in this situation...you might want a chance to shoot it but it isn't necessary....and bartowels are great in knife fights or sharp object attacks....but hey...aren't you carrying a sword around anyway?

What I have a major issue with is how he was the one that not only didn't de-escalate (his fucking job), but escalated the situation to where it got that woman dead. I've taken a knife away from an attacker once..it was a student in Hawaii who flipped out in class.....it doesn't make me a bad ass at all...just someone who could control an out of control situation...I've also learned basic self defense techniques and taught some people how to avoid serious injury when attacked...which also doesn't make you a bad ass......and as far as drugs or meds....adrenaline mixed with anger is a hell of a drug on it's own..if this woman is guilty of anything it's being dumb, racist and having a suicide by cop death wish

Bullshit. I want the police I pay to de-escalate first. Because that's better for society. I want the judicial system I pay for to focus on rehabilitation rather than retribution. Because that's also better for society.

And I will fight for and support causes which encourage that.

He should have de-escalated the situation before that, or delayed until someone better trained could get there. Shitty training is not an excuse to kill people.

He didn't have to shoot to kill to protect himself in this incident.....I call it excessive force and the situation could have been handled without firing a shot period....so yeah...trigger happy is in the equation....he shoots her in the arm or leg and it's game over for her attack. Not for her life. Cops are not trained to kill out of control people but to disarm them...he didn't attempt to disarm her so he let the gun end the problem. Personally I think that is the cowardly response by the cop...

I'm not saying it wasn't self defense. In the end he had to do what he had to do. Just thinking it could have been handled differently.

Its hard to tell from the vid but it seems like she was flailing around from the get go.

im not saying it couldn't have been handled better. But i don't think he is guilty of murder and he certainly isn't responsible for her being high like what has been adamantly stated.

Both are to blame. This "they're in a bad situation, blame the guys who hired them" bullshit is how you get bad cops covering each other's ass.

We should definitely stop giving assholes the power to kill people. We should also publicly vilify assholes for killing people, especially if they aren't held accountable.
