Who are the "Untouchables"? (1 Viewer)

We all know change is on the horizon. So who would we say the untouchable players are?

Would take much less from the others. Not sure they have much value though.

Odd man out cuz I say nobody is off limits. No team is going after Dame anyways given age and injury. POR will be annihilated in the first round this year, provided they get that far, and not get a pick. They need talent badly. They still have no true number 1 option in sight no matter how you look at it.

Dame has a no trade clause.

I don't think anyone on this roster is untouchable, we're just not good enough and I don't think the ceiling is high enough, so any of them could be moved.

I don't think Scoot or Shaedon could bring back the right value in a trade and trading one of them could have us looking like the Wizards look having traded Deni but if the offer reflects a future all star then you move them.

Deni could command a huge amount back and it would take a team overpaying but his contract is tricky so if we get that huge offer, I have no problem improving the team's ceiling by moving him.

Tou would also need a big return to move.

Clingan would only be available if a more mobile C with higher upside was either coming in from another trade or offered for him.

Everyone else could go.

Agree that no one is ever untouchable for the right return.

Now, if the question is who I value the most on this team, I would start with Deni.

Deni's skill set, IMO, is the hardest to replace. I have been waiting for a really good point forward for years, and he is by far the best of any that we have tried since maybe Pippen? Point forwards allow a team to have a lot more flexibility with lineups. (ie, 2 SGs on the floor at the same time)

The next hardest to replace is probably Camara. You would think a 3 and D forward would be easy to find, but over 200 3pters made, along with taking over 100 charges on D, is hard to find. Only the 4th Blazer ever to make over 200 3s in a single season. (although Dame did it multiple times)

After that, the choice gets tougher. There are quite a few I would want to keep (DC for sure), but in the end, their skill set is a little easier to replace.

To me the more interesting answer is if we trade players for future assets, like Jrue for a pick. Or do we trade young players with potential and picks for a declining star like Giannis.

Personally I'd prefer we don't give up assets for a star over 30, unless it makes us a legit contender. I don't think a Giannis trade would do that.

I would have actually loved to acquire Anthony Davis for basically 2nd rounders like the wizards. I'd look to do those moves, which is kind of what we did in acquiring Jrue. Keep all our youth/picks and add vets that are buy low opportunities.

Personally I'd prefer we don't give up assets for a star over 30, unless it makes us a legit contender. I don't think a Giannis trade would do that.

I'm really hoping it's moving vets for youth (either draft compensation or younger players that haven't got a chance that we like).

I'll be upset if we move a bunch of our young guys just to be in the mix for home court advantage. I think an all in move or moves to win now and not really have a long term future would have to make us a title favorite and I don't see that being possible.

I think his age and upside, Clingan is the only player it doesn't make sense to trade. I'd trade pretty much anyone else.

I think the question implies untouchable “considering the type of offer they would get”. Clearly nobody saying Clingan untouchable if they are offered SGA. But I would not trade Clingan for any reasonable offer.
