Who are you rooting for tonight? Dallas or San Antonio?

Realistically we shouldn't expect the 8 seed to beat the 1 seed, so I would plan on the Spurs advancing.

If Dallas pulls it out tonight, we could possibly see both 8 seeds advancing. That would be amazing

I'm seriously torn, because I really hate Dallas. I don't think we play them well at all. We had that one blowout win, but they're so difficult to defend. They have also done probably the best job defending Dame in his two years in the league.

San Antonio on the other hand is a team we've played very well. Lillard lights up Parker any time he sees him, and LA gets so pumped when he faces Duncan. The Spurs are tough, and they play great defense, but I think they're a better matchup for us.

Matchups are key for either team...
Really depends what you want to see.

The spurs typically don't double team Aldridge because of Duncan. So Aldridge gets one on one play.
But Lillard would struggle defensively the whole series. He would HAVE to be on Parker because he's too small to guard Kawai/Ginobli/Green.
He could stay with Green and contest the 3 ball. But in the 4th Quarter he cannot be on Kawai or Ginobli...

The mavs have shown they can and will double team Aldridge. They've shown anytime he touches the ball a double is coming.
However Lillard wouldn't have as many issues defensively against the mavs. Calderon isn't an offensive juggernaut.. And Lillard shouldn't be against Ellis too often.

But if I had to pick I'd go with the Mavs because the Spurs are well... the Spurs...
I'd take my chances with the Mavs getting hot shooting in the series.

But I think the Spurs will make it to the Finals.

Is it that the Mavs are alternately really bad and really good (blowing huge leads and coming back from huge holes) or that the Spurs aren't what they were in previous years?

Dallas. If San Antonio loses in the first round and Portland advances, I win $20.

I want that series to go 7 games, and for the winner to be too tired to keep up with our guys.

I don't mean to jump ahead but should we and we should get past Houston, The Blazers would have a better chance against Dallas. Not to mention Aldridge and Dirk would be fun to watch.

Spurs. I think we match up well with them. We've beaten them. If we beat them, we would universally be acknowledged as legit.
Agreed. The matchup with LaMarcus and Dalembert (who's given LMA fits on the defensive end in the past) and with Devin Harris on Damian smells like trouble.

Those two guys have the potential to get our two stars completely out of their rhythm.

Not saying it's going to happen, but more likely with them than anyone on the Spurs.
