Who do you want at 25?

Probably wont be there at 25 and he's not particularly athletic and he's an average at best defender.
I did say "maybe"--but you never know, he could drop a few spots. And obviously anyone who fits that description to a T is going to go earlier--just trying to find the best fit.

But yeah, looking through the boards, it seems that all the non-lotto wings are either 3 or D, but not both. Ty Jerome, maybe, but there's a reason he's a 2nd rounder

I like thybulle from Washington, should be there at 25. Could be a wesley Matthews type in the NBA. And likely one of the better 3 and D guys in the draft

But Jerome isn't athletic. And that's exactly my point. No players available at 25 with all 3 traits, yet that's what MM expects.

Chuma will be available at 25. Bazley also. These are my top 2 targets.

Did he say that's what he expects? Or just what he wants (as per the thread title)?

Have you ever hired anyone? You set a list of qualifications knowing that you're not going to find anyone who fits them perfectly, and you look for someone who comes as close to them as reasonably expected. You can apply the same thought process here. He wants an athletic 3 & D guy. If the best option is a knockdown 3 point shooter with average NBA-level athleticism and good defensive fundamentals with potential for improvement, then great, you've got a relative match.

Perfection is the enemy of good.

Chuma isnt athletic and is coming off an ACL tear. Defense is also not a sure thing with him. Bazley has proven nothing defensively and isnt known as a good shooter.

Not that theyd be bad picks or anyghunh. Just that theres simply not a 3 and D Athletic player available there.

Semantics.

And drafting an average athlete isnt drafting someone athletic.

I actually wonder what some of the young Phoenix players would look like with a real leader in Dame showing them how to play and win. Im not a fan of Justin Jackson, Kelly Oubre Jr, Warren, I do like Bridges, but Id be interested if the 25 pick could be a piece to get one of those just to see if all they need is a real basketball team that can play to their strengths.

Theres no athletic 3-and-D players that'll be available at 25.
One guy that certainly fit the 3 part is Cam Johnson, SR from NC. He can flat out shoot it

Also would mind Louis King from Oregon. Long dude decent at most things

Want and expect are two very different things. It's a lot more than just "semantics". It's you imputing your interpretation on someone's statement without knowing if it's valid.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing them take a long shot that could develop with Simons after this current window. I like Luka.

I'm sure most of us have been thinking that since the last series. Do you see any of those in this draft?

There was some dude at Duke who was pretty good.

Lmao, like who?!

Who is an athletic 3 and D guy whos expected to be around at 25? Please tell...
I know you said he hasn't shown anything but that's why I'd take a chance on a guy like Bazley. If both him and Simons pop in a couple years we'd be set up for the next decade considering our bigs are still pretty young.

I'd rather take a chance like that and not have it work out then take someone who could play sooner but has a low ceiling.

I'm not seriously proposing we consider this, but do enjoy academic discussions.

I wonder if there is anything Portland could offer NO that they would want, that would also keep AD home. I like Zion's skill set, but am way less than 100% sure he will be able to stay healthy in the NBA unless he can shed a lot of weight. Having said that, I wonder if there is some package of Dame + pick + _____ that would actually work for NO.

Just to be clear, I do not want to rebuild right now. But,

Simons 19
Trent Jr. 20
Zion
Skal 23
Collins 21
Nurk 24

and the lottery picks you would get for a couple years, could generate an interesting team down the road.

We really don't know about his defense because no really have seen live. But offensive he might have the whole package. Score at 3 level he got pretty good handles and what seen he got good vision. As said before he my dark horse at this pick. I just watch another tape of him he even got finger roll at the hoop. Last time was George Gervin of the Spurs. Now there others ones I like at that slot.

Been saying this for years now. I want athletes. Big strong dudes who can sustain long minutes in the playoffs.

I want someone who is long and physical, can run fast, defend, and dunk on fools. A tweener forward of sorts.

I have no idea about this year's draft.

Is there anyone who fits this description?

So is it BAP in the lottery but draft for position at 25?

I'd go BAPP (best available player potential) at 25, regardless of position.

Find another Simons.
