Who do you want at 25?

I'm hoping we can trade for Cash Considerations, he's got lots of upside.
I read somewhere after our social media did some joke on cash considerations, Dame was not happy. Think it was related to Tim Quarterman.

Well I'm talking about a draft pick, not a specific person.

Brandon Johnson from UNC has about the nicest looking shot you’ll ever see. I think he’s got some other holes in his game but that’s what you get deep into first round. I also like Schofield from Tennessee. Again, considering where the pick is.

So is it BAP in the lottery but draft for position at 25?

I'd go BAPP (best available player potential) at 25, regardless of position.

Find another Simons.

I think it's more detailed late in the draft. With this team, if you could find an upper classman who might file a needed role, then you take them. If not, then you take BPA with upside for the next generation, like Simons.

Chuma isnt athletic and is coming off an ACL tear. Defense is also not a sure thing with him. Bazley has proven nothing defensively and isnt known as a good shooter.

Not that theyd be bad picks or anyghunh. Just that theres simply not a 3 and D Athletic player available there.
Chuma is coming off an injury, but he's a good athlete. Definitely not the level of Gannis, but he's also not Chandler Parsons. He's at least as athletic as Mo/Aminu are, and likely a MUCH better shooter.

You're right that Bazley hasn't proven anything yet... which is why he may be available at Portland's pick. From what little info I've been able to get, he's at least an adequate shooter. He just has the highest upside of anyone Portland could pick at #25.

It's important to note that if we keep this pick Olshey said the same thing about picking Simons last year.

I'm not seriously proposing we consider this, but do enjoy academic discussions.

I wonder if there is anything Portland could offer NO that they would want, that would also keep AD home. I like Zion's skill set, but am way less than 100% sure he will be able to stay healthy in the NBA unless he can shed a lot of weight. Having said that, I wonder if there is some package of Dame + pick + _____ that would actually work for NO.

Just to be clear, I do not want to rebuild right now. But,

Simons 19
Trent Jr. 20
Zion
Skal 23
Collins 21
Nurk 24

and the lottery picks you would get for a couple years, could generate an interesting team down the road.
So you suggest we blow it up?

I would want to look at Bazley more, but he seemed to have quick feet and good instincts on defense. Given drafting Simons last year, I'm sure he is on their radar.

I wish I liked college hoops enough to know even one player ya'll are talking about other than Zion and Taco. But I do love this thread and lean on these discussions heading into the draft so keep it up!

With that said, package pick and expiring contract and trade. Win now motherfucker.

Freeman and Holdahl seem to think the Blazers will be working overtime to trade the pick in a package with some salary

I hope we get something back in return. Seems a waste to use the pick now to get rid of ET when we held onto him this long.

If we have to draft I'd look at trading up Keldon Johnson. He could be a very solid 3 & D player in this league. I think we should more be looking at exploring trading the pick for player that can help this team win now though.

They actually try to trade the pick last year but there were no takers. There less trading in the draft trying to unload a salary. Last year there were zero of these types of trade in the draft.

One guy that certainly fit the 3 part is Cam Johnson, SR from NC. He can flat out shoot it

Also would mind Louis King from Oregon. Long dude decent at most things
Neither are particularly athletic or good defenders, but they're definitely wings that can shoot.

It's interesting to me that Olshey in his presser the other day was saying that the agents were controlling everything and that they aren't allowing workouts and so Portland would probably only have 3 or 4; but I see every day that numerous teams are having multiple players working out every day. What's the deal? Is Portland planning on trading the pick and for some reason Olshey doesn't want to say that? Or are agents sure Portland is trading the pick so they don't want players wasting their time working out for Portland?

Been saying this for years now. I want athletes. Big strong dudes who can sustain long minutes in the playoffs.

I want someone who is long and physical, can run fast, defend, and dunk on fools. A tweener forward of sorts.

I have no idea about this year's draft.

Is there anyone who fits this description?
What about Kenny Wooten?
  • "Similar to Jordan Bell but bigger, longer and with even better bounce."
Probably available in the second round. http://www.nbadraftroom.com/p/kenny-wooten.html
