Who honestly thinks the Blazers win more then 30 games?

Z-bo has only beaten LMA in 4 of 10 tries, so we don't need a front line on defense, we just need LMA. Especially since, on your 2005-06 team that you think is better, you have Khryapa and Ha (or Ratliff) filling out the rest of the front line. You don't need a college team to defend that.

Z-Bo averaged 18 and 8 that year shooting 43%. FORTY THREE PERCENT FROM THE FIELD!

At the peaks of their careers, those guys were top 5 in the league for their positions. They were plenty good.

I said they were good players, but not superstars.

Not one of those guys could lead a team deep into the play-offs as the number 1 options on their team. Not one of those guys, in their primes, was better than Aldridge in his prime. So, why give up Aldridge, to take a chance on someone who may, or my not, eventually be as good as Aldridge after several years of development?

It seems like going backwards with the hope of eventually going sideways. I'd prefer to keep the sure thing, build around him and try to move forward. Giving up your best player rarely makes your team better.

I think that it's possible we only win 30 games, but I don't think we should do much of anything about it.

If the team is good enough to squeak into the playoffs: awesome. It's a young team (five rookies? Six? It's ridiculous) and they should get better as players. The core doesn't seem good enough to threaten for a title in the intermediate- to long-run, but if they win, say, 45 games this year, then the team and coaching are much better than I thought, so maybe they'll surprise me and be able to take the next step.

If the team is bad enough to get a high lottery pick: awesome. I still like our youth and our talent, and adding another big piece would almost certainly bolster us in the long run. Further, Aldridge is young enough that by the time we climb from bad to mediocre to good, he'll still have useful tread left on his tires.

I'm simply not worried about this year. Not excited, like the Oden years, but not despondent, like last year's piece of veteran lameness. I will watch the games and see how the team develops... it should be interesting either way.

If we replaced lillard/wes/batum/Leonard with cp3/wade/lebron/Howard, Odenisgod would still rant about how bad this team is, how the teams so injury prone we will be lucky to win 30 games and how we need to blow it up and get lucky in the lottery because we lack talent.

No, I would take that trade.

Sure they could. Not John Lucas, though. The big guys were a couple of inches shorter than Aldridge back then, but more effective. As to the point of all this, whether to trade Aldridge, I said earlier: Not unless it's a trade up. Wait for a Dwight Howard-type event.

i'M SORRY BUT THIS KID SUCKS!!!!! I KNEW HE SUCKED ALL ALONG. SHOULD OF TAKEN SOMEONE ELSE. GOD WERE DOOMED. OH WELL.

AND YOU WONDER WHY EVERYBODY THINKS YOU'RE A BITCH! WAIT.......IS MY CAPSLOCK STUCK?

Good lord Meyers! You have no business being in the NBA. But I don't blame you. If I knew a team was dumb enough to draft me in the lottery I would of entered the draft too. 100% bust written all over him.

What did he do?

It's going to be an up and down season but I think they can win around 35 games. Maybe surprise some people and try to battle for that 8th seed. I'm really excited about the season!

As good as a pick I think Damian was, Meyers was just as bad! Who is running these drafts? He's out of his league. Was decent in the big ten. TURRIBLE.

I dunno, man. He's looked pretty good to me. Go get those eyes checked.

to the OP's Q, if Lillard can consistently play "anywhere close" to the level he played last night in the Utah game IMO we will win more than 30 games. Before this preseason I thought we likely would not win that many games, but Lillard is really that good and he makes everyone else better

This team isn't winning more then 25. As for Myers.... The blazers should have traded up for Drummond or taken Sullivan

traded what to move up? A future first?

And do you mean "Sullinger?"--he of the back issues? Take him in the lottery?!?

you make it sound so easy, Sully as expected is going to a more immdeiate impacy payer than Meyers, Meyers ceiling IMO is a lot higher and he does not have that back issue looming over his career. Drummond looks good so far, I am very happy with the draft we had

Well I sure as hell hope Terry Stotts and the rest of the team thinks they can win more than 30 games.

Looking up and down this roster and it's looking scary bad. I have never seen this team whith this less of talent. Or else Lillard turns into a star I can't see them winning more then 30 games. They need to do something to shake up this roster. Batum should be the first to go but now that they over paid for him by about 20 million dollars he's not going anywhere. Matthews are starting 2 is a 7th man on most teams, I don't even know what you could get for LMA? It looks like there best bet is hitting rock bottom and hoping this is a great draft. Only two ways to get alot better. Free Agency (Won't happen here) Or hit the lottery. Or else you're stuck in purgatory for years. Would rather sacrifice 1 season to get a star (If there is one)

We have a much greater chance of winning 30 games than SPD does of getting his payment for the bet you welched on. :biglaugh:
