This is where I flip out and complain about mods, right? HahahaAll that popcorn is going to screw with your blood sugar. You need to go keto immediately or else you are going to die!!
Wouldn't that depend on the context?Well taking your original comment at face value, "do not presume that you can educate me on anything." Is what the response was towards. Not whether someone could teach you about Presidents. So your implication to me at least read that there was nothing (anything) that he could educate you on, which in fact does make it sound like you believe he is not as intelligent on any subject as you. Now adding in specifiers such as anything you care about, that may be I don't know.
I can understand laughing with someone but it's hard to understand laughing at someone in here unless your intent is denigration.Uhhh. Just checking in. This post was good for a laugh. I apologize in advance because the pics you are about to post of that amazing boat you designed and built yourself are going to make me feel so silly for laughing at you.

As a mod, your words now have more weight in this forum.
Hey now. There is an abundance of denigration without me laughing my ass off.I can understand laughing with someone but it's hard to understand laughing at someone in here unless your intent is denigration.
Denigration is not right even when used as a retort to another denigration.Hey now. There is an abundance of denigration without me laughing my ass off.![]()
Yes, enjoying those kinds of pleasant experiences are quite nice and we have had our share. I was hinting more at the denigration present within the OT political threads.Denigration is not right even when used as a retort to another denigration.
Laughing with someone is one of the most pleasant experiences I've had.
Which convo? There are many in this thread.Laughing at someone...laughing with someone...laughing near someone....hmmm.
And some even manage to do all of the above without actually contributing to the convo.

Hell, I dunno, pick one, that's up to you.
No need for that when you guys are throwing them at each other. I will grab a seat and watch the show. And afterwards, maybe we can go by the old folks home and throw some banana peels on the sidewalks.![]()

No more rehashing, eh? BummerNo, actually, I think we've moved on...give it a try.
HahaSorry to disappoint...maybe you can seek to needlessly stir some shit up in another thread...I think this one is pretty much dead.
Again, sorry.
People who laugh at someone tend not to laugh with someone.Laughing at someone...laughing with someone...laughing near someone....hmmm.

People who laugh at someone tend not to laugh with someone.

Are there exceptions? Sure, that's why I used the term 'tend'.
I can't remember your exchange with hobbes but let me give you a thumbnail on him. Hobbes and I are buddies. We've had dinner with him, his father and his brother along with me and my wife. Great guy.fwiw, I was directing that post at Hobbes.

It's true, I did misunderstand your post as being directed at me. However, like Sly, Wookee and hobbes, you could never get on the wrong side of me. Well, I guess it's theoretically possible but virtually impossible. Why? Because you stand up for what's right and I respect that in a person. I respect it a lot.

Hey man, believe me, I don't have a problem with Hobbes, never have.
fwiw, Calvin and Hobbes along with The Far Side are my fav all time comic strips...in fact my Orange Tabby who passed away about 2 years ago was named "Hobbes" in honor of Calvin and Hobbes and is still my wall paper on this Mac.
And this is the picture of him that I use.

Hobbes, I've got some Westerns saved on my DVR just for you and your dad.Dad, Michael, and I enjoyed the company of you and your beautiful wife.
@Lanny , we should get together again sometime soon. Maybe order pizzas and watch some of those western movies we've been talking about.
I can see why you named him Hobbes.
Yeah, and oddly enough he had some of the same mannerism's a Calvin's buddy...he loved for me to rub his belly and he'd follow me around the yard or in my garden, walk in front of me a couple of steps, stop, roll over on his back with all fours up in the air and wait for me to rub that damn belly.
Kinda like this....remind you of anyone?

My parents had a cat just like that. It looked different but it used to sleep on the couch in exactly that position hoping one of us (usually me) would come along and wake it up by rubbing its' belly. It would then start purring and I swear I could detect a smile on it's face.Yeah, and oddly enough he had some of the same mannerism's a Calvin's buddy...he loved for me to rub his belly and he'd follow me around the yard or in my garden, walk in front of me a couple of steps, stop, roll over on his back with all fours up in the air and wait for me to rub that damn belly.
