If we've learned anything about the new NBA, it's that an explosive wing is a must. Derek Rose, Dwyane Wade, James Harden. Guys that can get to the rim. Is there someone in this draft that can slash but also has a decent outside shot? It seems like Waiters and Lillard can both drive. Beal not so much. How about Lamb or Rivers?

We lost our slasher so we need to replace him.

Lamb and Ross are potentially the most explosive scorers in the draft, IMHO

Nic is better then all those players.

Something to think about: Batum should be our starting SG. So we need a SF more than a SG.

My list of get to the rim guys:
1) Rivers (but I don't care for the rest of his game)
2) Lillard (my choice because I think he could handle the point well enough)
3) Waiters (explosive scorer, but not a lot else)
Wroten, Ross all have some ability too, but not as much.

I don't see Beal as much as a get to the rim guy, as a pull up from 10 feet guy.

So you are telling me Lamb, Ross and Rivers are better then Nic Batum!?!?! You say it is "laughable"? Are you fucking serious? You pit Nic in this draft he probably goes #2!

Shit. I hate repping you!

"Better" is subjective son! Is he "better" at 10 million a year? How much better? Lamb could definitely be better than Batum. I think Nic is probably the most overrated player by fans in the history of this franchise.

Your question wasn't about how much money they make. And you said it was "laughable" that I thought Nic was better then these kids.

Interesting, I looked up number of FT attempts per game (usually a good indicator of taking it to the rim). Of the top guards and wings, here is what I saw:

1) Lillard 8.0 FTA/G
2) Wroten 7.5 FTA/G
3) O'Quinn 7.0 FTA/G
4) Rivers 5.4 FTA/G
. . .
Waiters 3.6 FTA/G

I do think it's laughable. You don't know anything about these kids. Lillard, Waiters, and Lamb could all end up being better than Nic Batum. So yes, I do think it's laughable to come to a snap judgement on a bunch of rookies that haven't even played in the league yet.

too bad (for us UW fans) Wroten only made about 3 of those a game.

Is this semantics? Nic is now better than those kids. Some of those kids could develop to be better than Nic is now, or ever will be? Right?

I don't know if it's semantics. We have no idea how well those guys will do in the league. They might be better than Batum right now. To just flat out say that Nic Batum is better than someone who hasn't played a day in the league is laughable.

Yeah, Wroten is such a mixed bag of super talent and crap. Parts of his game you love and other parts look like they could keep him from ever being a player.

Like come to a snap judgement like you have believing that these unproven college kids are better then an up and coming SF like Nic?

I didn't come to a snap judgement. I said they could be better. We don't know, do we? You're the one with the snap judgement saying that Nic is definitely better than those guys.

No one said any of them were. You're the only one in this thread making a definitive statement about players' relative abilities.

Not to derail the bickering about Nic, but . . .

I'm starting to wonder if taking Lillard at 6 makes perfect sense (assuming Drummond isn't there). You would have to put him up against NBA talent to see if he can compete, but I love his balance. Shoots well from outside, penetrates, draws lots of fouls, handles the ball, has solid size for a PG, and supposedly has a great work ethic and attitude.

24.5 pts/g on 15.5 fga/g

41% on threes on 7+ attempts/g

and near the top in the nation at FTA/g, and leading Rivers by quite a bit.

Having said that, Lillard had slightly lower numbers than Beal when he was a Freshman.
