OMG differing opinions! Like, he must be stupid and hate hip-hop. Like, he must not know what is good because his opinion differs from the status quo.
Influential hip hop producers? Where have they broken boundaries and caused a shift in the way hip-hop is produced and listened to? Do you know the definition of influence?
BTW, I do post at a music site, and that's where I get most of my information from about music. There's a whole world of music aside from your favorite DJ's track on MTV/BET. The world is full of music, and the world is full of producers that have transcended what those guys make you think is influential and new and exciting. It's just not known, because the music business is scared of change, and quite frankly consumers like yourself are scared of it too.
How do I not understand music production? Because I find these guys repetitive and unimaginative? How is Kanye for example any better or more influential than say J Dilla. J Dilla was ahead of his time, and while he was sampling Daft Punk years ago and creating his style years ago, Kanye West is coming around just now and copying everything this man has done. He's ripping off DJ Premier left and right as well.
I'd be glad to share with you the other perspective of music if you're willing to be open-minded about it and not slam me because of my different views. Your call.
