Not what you HOPE will happen before next season starts, but what you believe will happen.

I think the starting 5 will be the same but hopefully nas
I think neil will get a point cheap

Olshey will bring back Aminu and call it a day.

According to him the problem with the roster was coaching.

CJ is duplication and not as capable at what we need to improve on as Powell is.

We'd be crazy to choose CJ over Powell, if for no other reason than CJ has a more tradeable contract situation.

We need to trade CJ for the best wing talent we can get in return.

I assume you mean traded before the start of next season. They’re all going to get traded or retire at some point in their careers, right?

This year, more than any recent year, it seems like there’s pressure mounting on Olshey to make a big trade and it seems to me that means CJ going out in a deal. BUT, Olshey could just be stubborn enough to believe that the roster he assembled after the Powell trade this year still has the potential to work if coached properly. I’m leaning towards keeping the starting core being the plan going into the season, with tinkering on bench players. If that’s not working, I would see Olshey going all-in on a CJ trade by the deadline.

What if Dame doesn't want him traded? Most Superstars have say in who comes, and goes now days.
I'd tell Dame we are improving the team, and its the NBA, players get traded. If you went to him however and said we traded CJ for a mediocre player and a future, he probably would be disappointed. Then I'd tell him, please know we want you here as long as you want to be. I don't think Dame hold's grudges.

This is flogging a dead horse, but Powell just DOESN'T do what CJ does (or vice versa, of course). Powell's handle is shaky at best, while CJ has one of the craftiest handles in the league. CJ can fill in at PG in a pinch (and has), whereas there is no way in hell Powell could do that. Powell is a small forward in a PG's body.

CJ can't guard his position. CJ is duplication of Dame where he's not duplication of Powell.

Losing Powell for nothing should not be an option. The best option is to trade CJ for the best return possible. And I'm a fan of CJ.

Oh, well, crap! You're expecting this much insight PLUS the ability to read? Asking a freaking lot, aren't you?

I disagree. Powell is a SG in a SG's body. If you want a more general take, he's a wing in a SG's body

Portland played him out of position at SF. But if you look at Toronto in the 2019-20 season, Powell spent the majority of his time at SG. Here's how 82 games saw it:

his numbers & differentials were much better at SG. BBREF says he played 74% of his minutes at SG that season

RoCo and the Zach Collins QO are the only assets the Blazers have other than CJ.

Nurkic is underpaid so trading him at his contract would be a negative.

You can't do a S&T for Collins using the QO, it's not allowed. If you do sign him for the QO, you can't trade him immediately, it will be sometime after the start of the season. ON TOP of that he will have a no-trade clause if he signs his QO. AND ON TOP of that someone will actually need to want an 8 million dollar salary cap filler that won't play any actual minutes.

Do you realize how ridiculous it sounds to sign him for the QO with the expectation of trading him? If you just need a salary filler, you can sign Kanter for 7.6 million using his early bird rights. At least Kanter can play.

I really not convinced a CJ and Dame back court can bring you close to a championship. There both not very good guarding there position and show up in the playoffs. Yes they make play here and there on the defense side but that's slim or none. Now can Billups change how both play on offense jury is out on that remember we one worst teams on passing the ball before a shot if that continue then our play on offense won't change. That's I going to wait to see want kind coach Billups and yes everyone can assume anything they want. But the can actually changed how Dame and CJ plays especially CJ because I think he is caught in his own ways how he plays. That's the reason I want him traded.

I suspect the biggest trade Olshey will make is a sign & trade after he realizes Norm won't stay in Portland and we'll get a less talented player in return.

S&T Norm = Almost impossible due to BYC rules. If Norm wants to leave he is gone. So Blazers will need to make a choice between CJ and Norm, but that decision may not be theirs to make if Norm doesn't want to come back regardless or they can't find a suitable trade for CJ.

Then all this bullshit about wanting to win is just that….. bullshit.

Depends on who you can get for him. His salary is precisely why he's seen as a positive (quite positive) asset around the league. He's a bit of a throwback, but there are teams like CHA/BOS that could really use him.
