I don’t doubt the team is better and I would do it. But just saying fixing Simmons’s issues are not easy and may never be fixed. So you live with an outstanding defender and a guy who can pass. Which is fine. But it’s not easy to turn a shitty shooter who I think is mentally weak, may be uncoachable with family and friends in his ear and is a veteran at this point. I say go get him but know what you are getting and that’s it.
Sure, get him and surround him with shooters. I’m saying this guy is a jump shot away from MVP level. As is he’s an incredible transition scorer and defender. Every rebound you give Simmons the ball and let him run. This man is a MONSTER on the break.
Then, if the defense gets set you have Simmons give it to Lillard and run the pick and roll. He would be a godsend to this team addressing our two biggest weaknesses, transition offense and perimeter defense.
