i voted for prince. he'd be the perfect guy at small forward for the blazers. good defender, solid shooter, no injury problems, not too old, has a lot of experience playing as a 4th option(and doing so well), and would be a perfect mentor for batum. throw in that he could also come with a decent backup pf(like maxiell) and that's even better.

Get out of my head!

I think G. Wallace is at the top of my list. He brings so much without running a single play for him.

Doesn't it scare anybody that G-Wall misses 20-30 games/year with injuries?

I like his game, but misses a lot of time.

Without knowing what we would give up for each of these players, I can't really vote.

Assuming that we give up equal value for any one of them, I'd go with Amare. He's the best player and the most valuable, even though he would not be the best fit for this team.

Ed O.

I agree. Amare is a game changer. Listen, I like LA. He's a great kid, and a good PF. That said, I don't know that he'll ever see an All Star Game. How much better will he get? He's sort of limited athletically - he's not a BAD athlete, but he's not freakishly athletic either. He does a lot of things pretty well. Amare is a beast.

I don't think Amare is a cancer either. He's not happy in Phoenix, but he's being asked to defer to Shaq's old/fat ass (or at least co-exist with him) Does Amare have an ego? Damn straight. What player of that status doesn't? He wants to be THE guy. I don't see that being a problem here. Oden doesn't seem to crave that sort of thing, and I think Roy is smart enough to know that taking a backseat to Amare could bring titles and keep him healthy. We ask an awful lot of B-Roy, and his body can/will continue to break down at this rate. Imagine this . . .

Oden
Amare
Batum
Roy
Bayless

I know I'm the minority on this. LA is well thought of, and rightfully so. But I think Amare has been unfairly dubbed as a lazy (at least defensively) egotistical, selfish baby who doesn't get along with his teamates. He says he does - he says he gets along with everyone. He's a 28/11 career playoff performer. He's carried the Suns at times in the post season. Career 25 PER in playoffs.

caron butler, tayshaun prince, gerald wallace. any of those would be good. if none of them can be acquired, i love the idea of getting childress in the summer.

i'm not high at all on any of the pgs that portland could reasonably acquire(i absolutely don't understand the love for andre miller that some people have).

exactly as I see it

I thought the "scout rumors" Dufferduck claimed rang sort of true in terms of being realistic. For the sake of conversation I'll suspend my doubts and say Prince for Bayless and Outlaw would be very tempting.

For Nash and Shaq, it would blow about 32M in salary. It seems tough for us to get that with just the parts I'd want to trade.

In a perfect world, we'd get a short-term 1 and a longer-term 3. We'd get a backup PF banger guy. But if it was something relatively minor I'd like Shaq as our 3rd big.

Something like this works. Phoenix gets younger at PG and C, gets a talented young SF/PF, a PF who can bang and score inside, even if he is undersized and saves money this offseason. I would also throw in a top three protected first round draft pick. If Phoenix cares more about saving as much money as possible this offseason than getting a good C, we can see if Minnesota wants to get a solid true C to mix with Love and Jefferson, more of PFs than Cs IMO, and bring Przybilla back to Minnesota like this. What do you think NattaNerNuttaMan?

Wallace.

But there are a lot of names on that list who could help this team exponentially, so I'd be happy with almost anyone from that list.

He plays if he thinks there is hope of success

There was a time when this community really wanted Marion. Those days are gone. He has pretty much shot himself in the foot, and many people think of him as a cancer. Not just Blazers fans feel that way either.

Prince. Healthier than Wallace and needs the ball less than Butler.

If Miller was 5 years younger, he would be much higher on my list.

Amare is.....interesting......but not at the price the Suns would demand for a guy not well suited for our offense.

You mean like in Phoenix where he wanted out of a team that was on pace to win 50+ games? C'mon. I love the Matrix's talent, but he wanted out because he wanted to be more of a featured guy.

In any case he's a rent-a-player for half of a season and there is no guarantee he'd want to stick around, which makes trading anything besides Raef Lafrentz and cap ballast problematic.

No one wants him mainly because he bitches every year and thinks he's better than he actually is. Other than that he's a solid player in the same kind of mold that Gerald Wallace is, in that they don't need plays called for them to be effective. Prince fits the bill too.

1.)Prince
1a.)Wallace

Two defensive-minded SFs, either would improve the team immediately and shore up some of our big issues (perimeter defense and slashing ability). Prince is a slightly better defender, Wallace is a better slasher and more explosive. I actually prefer GWs game, but he is injured a bunch. Prince is an iron man, so I'd prefer him overall. If we could get Prince for any package not including Roy/Aldridge/Oden, we should do it without hesitation.

Pretty sure it ain't gonna happen, though...

PS; it will never happen in PDX, but a guy with a mean streak... RON ARTEST would really help this team on the court. Sometimes it seems like our team is so nice that they would rather be at home, baking snickerdoodles with their bros and practicing french kissing with their french kissing puppets, than play aggressive D.
