Simple question: what still-active ex-Blazer (included players the Blazers had the rights to even if they never suited up) would you most like added to our current roster? (I think there aren't actually many obvious candidates, which I take as a sign of good management.)

I'm sure Paul would like the money Kevin Pritchard wasted on Victor Claver, Petteri Koponen, and Joel Freeland back.

But to answer your question, probably Channing Frye. His newly discovered three-point shot would be an awesome addition. He's deadly from beyond the arc.

Please. Frye is like a YoYo. One year good. One year bad. Happaned in NY. Happened in Portland. Is about to happen in PHX. He is like young Vince Carter's negative, half man, half amazing(ly) bad. This year is not going to be a good Frye year (and I like Frye as a person).

Hey, that money would've plummeted in value in the financial crash anyway. And while I've pretty much given up on Claver (who seems to have become strictly a defender and to have been frozen out of his team's offense), Freeland looks better every year in the ACB, and I still maintain that Koponen is Bigger Better Blake.

So, who's your choice?

About the only player I can think of off the top of my head is Jarret Jack because of the player he's become (good 3 point shooter, actually decent-ish at running an offense, tough) and even then I don't think I'd be wild about putting him back on this team. Other than that? I don't know.

Tough one for guys that actually were in uniform and played on our floor.

I wouldn't take Z-Bo because he just doesn't fit our system and I doubt he'd play behind LMA for 10 mpg.

Might go with Blake just because with Bayless out he probably would fit the backup role better than Armon will (for now).

Just as I post about Channing being a deadly shooter he comes out tonight and literally breaks the backboard from all the line-drive bricks.

Thought I'd do a quick run through of all the active players (so not Martell, for example) whose rights the Blazers ever owned and see how they're doing after a couple of games. As I used Doug Steele's excellent (and venerable) site, I ranked them in order of their Tendex (his version of PER, or rather, PER is Hollinger's version of Tendex, as Tendex is much older). The number by their names represents their rank on their team according to scoring (so yes, James Jones is averaging more ppg than CHRIS BOSH). I think you'll find the ordering surprising, even after 2 or 3 games:

So... what's up with Zach?

Sergio.

I'm probably one of his only remaining fans here (keepin it strong!) and I miss his lobs to Rudy. Sucks that no one else can see Rudy running and calling for backdoor lobs on our team.

Okay, let's try a little mindreading trick.

I'm thinking of a former Blazer...

Maurice Lucas.

Ok, seriously though, Channing Frye.
