How? All he's shown he can do is shoot. Even against bad competition he barely ever got to the basket, even when they were completely playing him for the shot he didn't get around people often. He would be my last pick out of the players listed.
That is not entirely true....and even if it were, I would take a player with a clearly identifiable NBA skill (outside shooting, which he isn't just good at, he is VERY good at)...over a player without one any day.
BTW, over 22% of his points last year were scored from the foul line (over 37% were 2pt FG - Flynn's points were 32% from FT and 47.6% from 2pt FG FYI), that is not a bad percentage....and having watched him play several times, I think he can drive on players effectively...and quite frankly a guy who is able to hit the mid range jump shot with a high efficiency is IMO a very good commodity to have on your team...someone mentioned Jeff Hornacek in another thread?, and he was deadly doing just that, so is Monta Ellis, and his dad, Dell Curry....I think that POR would love to have any of those guys on this team now...
The kid is stronger than he looks and people think, he is more athletic that people give him credit for, he has been praised as having excellent court vision and a keen bball IQ by basketball experts\coaches with far more knowledge than anyone here has...and apparently has the chance to even CONTINUE to grow another 2" inches...which would put him at 6'5....and he performed at a very high level in college and played well when placed against "NBA level" competition
So yeah, I don't think it is a close call...
but..DAMM! that 40 vert (33 no step vert as well) by Jonny Flynn!
