Who's better in 2015: Mets or Yanks?

...bernie, I'm not very optimistic about the Yanx' chances this year either, but as soon as I read Shoenfeld's name I started laughing.

...the guy doesn't think, he just writes.

If the Yankee pitchers can stay healthy I'd go Yankees. If not then the Mets but either way I think the'll be within 3-5 games of each other.

Who the hell cares about the National League nothing New York Mets!

Well- let's see....the Mets look to have one of the best- if not THE best- young pitching staffs in MLB, and they have a guy (Duda) who may already be one of the better young power hitters and could improve.....and at least a couple more established productive hitters in Wright and Grandy......
.....I wouldn't be surprised if they win about the same amount of games as the Yankees- 90

Staying strong on that 90 ah?

Mets have to face the Nationals how many times, lol! That said they have an equal number of games against the Phillies.

I'm still going with 80 wins for the Yanks. Not setting my hopes too high, give these guys a chance to develop chemistry and a team dynamic. We've been Core4 the last 20 years, takes time to build a new dynasty.

Last time I checked, NL East had just one team with a winning record.
That should change in 2015.

I believe the Mets will NOT surpass the Yanx in the Wins column. Especially if the Mets, will require the services of Colon at 42, who IMO, is beyond washed up, the 11 Million $$ Man.

If the Mets have to bring back Bobby Abreu at 41 years of age, then I'd say these troubling signs put the Mets in the Cellar. Sure they've got some good young talent coming up, or already aboard. Yet, its going to take more than what the Mets currently have to break even 50-50.

The Mets might get a depleted Braves team and the Phillies on their schedule but they'll also have to play the Nats and a much improved Marlins squad. I expect the Mets to win 82 or so. Any injuries in that young staff and that changes drastically.

I'm putting the Yanks at 88 wins this year. Hoping that's enough for a wildcard. Don't see anybody improved enough to run away with the AL East either.

Injuries on MOST staffs hurt .....the Mets have Harvey,Wheeler,Niese, DeGrom,.......
..... Gee, Colon (5th,6th starters...lol)----
.... and Noah Syndegaard <------ all teams are drooling over.

Wake up.

Harvey starts the season rehabbing, Gee is ok (great as a 5 or 6), same for Colon. Wheeler, Niese, Degrom is a nice top 3 even before Harvey comes back. Any of those 3 get injured or falters and that offense is not picking them up is my point. You count Syndergaard when he pans out. You have a point though, an injury can kill any rotation. Tanaka or Pineda go down, which seems inevitable, and the entire outlook of the season changes.

Harvey IS back. He's ready now.
Mets will just keep an eye on him and have him skip a couple of starts here and there.

I heard he was May/June recently on the FAN. If he's back at full steam to start the season they are only behind the Nats for best top 3 in the NL. Marlins also not far behind if Fernandez comes back strong.

To bad Johan Santana is probably at the end of his rope. I wouldn't be surprised if any team give him a short leash, 1 year only - chump change contract.
But I think Santana is done with. We will never see another Cy Young type season for Santana.....

That's been as big a Question in my mind, if he can cone back as good as he and his slider from hell returns to prior form. Throwing that slider is going to push him to the end of his rope, tho' I hope not.

Hell, imagine Jose coming back better than ever.

After all TJ had a much better half of his career after the surgery named after him.

Rob recently I read somewhere that Johan's comeback has been put on hold due to shoulder stiffness. Honestly I think the guy is done.

...Fernandez is such a likable kid it's hard not to pull for him to succeed after the TJ surgery...I know I am.

Anytime I hear a pitcher coming back from TJ surgery (especially a young pitcher) I'm rooting for him.

Not sure on Fernandez' schedule....but if he's on the mound at least after the ASG, and all things being equal.....the Marlins will be very much alive for a WC or even the division during Sept - IMO

Hey, but what I do I know?, I disagree with those who say the Yanks will struggle to win
82 games, and, Arod not being able to make it out of *ST.

* due to inability to perform.

Did I get it right guys? lol

I think that is a sound statement.

You're learning.

Actually, I'm still chuckling at-----> "those who say the Yanks will struggle to win 82 games, and Arod not being able to make it out of ST". (post #23)

I think I speak for many when I say .......... "I hope we're wrong".

But I am curious to know EXACTLY where you think we've improved so much that we're going to win 90 games.

I'm happy to be off 10 games from my 80....and actually I'm OK with 70 or 90. Not fair to heap too many expectations on the 2015 team, especially at this stage of the year.

Worked out with a kid at the gym this week coming back from TJ and ulnar nerve damage due to the over use of cortisone in the minors. Kids is back to full workouts, up to 88 (93 was his best pre injury), but his movement is even more dramatic. He's got classmates in Rookie Ball and A level, hoping to get a shot next spring. Trying to play in the Indy league this summer.

Getting an interesting perspective on young pitchers. His best friend is in the Yankee system, he's planning on heading down to Tampa to support him, continue his rehab. I need to get the name. We had an interesting discussion about the famous Clemens leg workout today. He's pretty sure, and so am I after learning the details....no way to do that clean.

...I'll ask the same question I asked before; "Other than "homeriffic hope" what makes you believe the Yanx will be better than last year?"
