Love Edgar, dont like the precedent....that opens a door for big sloppy.

I'm still hoping they remember Ortiz being one of the names being connected to PEDs when his time comes up.

BTW: Did you see where Sheffield is up for the HOF & says, "I had someone put the cream on my bad knee & didn't know it was a banned substance" Do you believe him? In his defense I have to say that he never had that big dominating year that all the others had. Unfortunately he shared the same trainer (Anderson) as Bonds. So, guilty by association?

I totally agree on all counts. Edgar deserves to be in the HOF, and in fact played a few games at 3rd Base, 1st Base.

Edgar only played in 535 games defensively out of his lifetime out of 1,403 Games played total.

Won 2 Batting Titles, and was in the top 10 for B'avg, in 7 of his 18 years played,

Was in the top 6 for OBP in those 18 years, and led the AL 3 times in OBP. He is ranked 20th All Time on the OBP leaders list: link noted below, placing Himself, amongst some very elite company, and out performing some HOF'rs, with less OBP%.

As much I hope Big Sloppi Shrek's involvement with PEDS, keeps that Fat ass sloppy Shrek out of the HOF.

Altho' like you said Rick, Sheffield didn't put up crazy obvious numbers like the others, yet He was considered one of the Most Feared Hitters for Pitchers, and Teams defensively. Sheffield was a damn fine player, literally intimidating many a pitcher.

One thing I loved about Sheffield, was when the Yanx faced Tim Wakefield, and his LL knuckle ball, I can recall several games, when wakefield held the Yanx to a few hits, then Gary would come up, and Hit a Monster HR, off of that slow molasses pitch. Often resulting in Wakefields being knocked off of the mound. Bullpen please...!!!

As great a DH as Edgar was I still don't think someone who played only 1/2 the game should be in the hall. JMO. I also think Raines deserves a shot. OH! & did I mention that some of the names on that list has to meant as a joke? And yet some dumb bastard will waste a vote on them.

AL pitchers only play half the gave once every 5 get they get in.......
