Who's Our Backup Center......Joel Freeland

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

He came to a free land to get our back-up center spot. God bless him. He understands liberty. MURCA!

Thank God! This is a message to you Leonard. Practice to play like a pansy and you get benched!

I wonder how Leonard will handle a bunch of DNPDs?

Well, Freeland isn't a true center so after seeing him getting abused in the paint may hasten Meyers return.

Brother, theres only 3 or 4 "true" centers in the league. He'll be fine......

Lopez obviously is responsible for matching up against the bigger, badder, centers in the league. Freeland will be asked to play against other subs and guys he can handle. If there is a center he can't handle, and Lopez is occupied on the bench, then give the matchup to LaMarcus. Nine nights out of 10, if Stotts manages the matchups properly, Freeland will be fine. Worse case we stick Meyers in and tell him to foul somebody. :)

LOL. Should he flex while he's doing it?

Obviously. I want him to whip his hair and flex so hard he unintentionally touches the ball after a made shot and gets called for a delay of game, causing Terry Stotts to fall into a pit of depression and online porn.

LMAO, that was funny

I count Lopez, Lopez, Hibbert, Gasol, Gasol, Noah, Chandler, and if he's healthy, Bynum. All true centers. Howard is too short to be a true center.

Gortat is true too.

Pau and Noah are no more centers than LA or Duncan are. Just happen to play that position.

It will be Robin Lopez after we land DeAndre Jordan after the trade deadline. So don't worry to much.

Meyers Leonard said he was "caught off guard" by his demotion to third string. Made it clear he wasn't "frustrated"; said all right things

More Meyers Leonard: "If I was giving 100 percent before, I'm going to give 110 now. This is good for me. I accept this challenge."

Meyers Leonard says demotion lit a fire in him: "It's time for me to take my work ethic to the next level. It's a long season."

I don't think it's his work ethic that needs to be "next level". I think it's his defense. And the season's a lot longer if you're eating at Shari's in Boise rather than whatever South Beach steakhouse LMA takes you to.

Although I don't know who this person is, the Blazers should really consider hiring a defensive minded bigman and basically pay him to go with Leonard all the time. Stop having him shoot 3's.

Have him basically be his shadow. A defensive bigman would go a LONG way in this league, whereas a poor defending big man, who loves to camp out at the 3 point line rarely makes an impact on this game.

He has the ability to, just not sure he has anyone to show him how to.

Leonard just needs to focus on working on the game that lacks for a big man. He needs to stop thinking he's a guard and work on being a center. I don't care how good his shot is; he needs to be in the paint!

Stotts is now one step closer to being fired.

Instead of losing games we will now be putting Leonard's development on hold while losing games.

The new coach of the Clips is DeAndre's biggest fan. No way he lets management deal him.

Well according to Olshey the Blazers and Clippers had discussions about it during the last trade deadline. Discussions can usually come back into play.

Yeah, because lord knows if it was discussed last year they'll still be interested this year.

I've been saying this for quite awhile. Meyers Leonard is not a center. They need to stop trying to force him to be a defensive presence inside. This is like trying to force Channing Frye to play center. Meyers is a 7-1 stretch 4. He might be a better backup 4 than Thomas Robinson if the let him compete for that position.
