who's this lockout's Shawn Kemp and Vin Baker?

Yeah, highly unlikely he gained 15lbs of just muscle in less than 2 months.

Considering Chris Johnson is a toothpick and probably like 6% body fat, any weight is good weight for him.

It'll be interesting to see how he looks next year. He already has pretty good athleticism for being a 7fter.

Shawn Kemp was 29 when the lockout ended. Vin Baker was 28. They also had signed huge contracts

I don't think we're going to see young guys as likely "balloon" candidates.

Ed O.

are we talking fathering children out of wedlock or gaining weight?

Just being silly, based on the popular (among some) meme that Oden struggles with weight problems and how those people claim every picture shows him as morbidly obese.

To be fair, it's only because he drinks himself into oblivion every night at the clubs. Alcohol'll do that to almost anyone.

If Eddy Curry's contract was up next summer instead of this one, there's your winner.

Odom's a good guess...though I don't see him ballooning, I definitely could see him "significantly out of basketball shape"

No chance that Oden's that guy, for the reasons already mentioned.

Baron Davis.

And by "at the clubs" you mean in the gutter outside the 7-11. I pulled up tonight and parked on his leg, didn't see him there. Luckily, he was so wasted he didn't feel it. Hope it doesn't set back his recovery, I was driving the Dodge Ram with a load of gravel in the back, but the dualies spread it from thigh to shin, and he's pretty impervious to injury, so things should be ok.

I don't see Kenyon Martin being one, partly because he's a UFA. He's got to stay fit to get a new contract the minute the lockout ends.

Here's a different question: which team is going to be the Indiana Pacers of this Lockout:

During the NBA’s six-month lockout in 1998-99, Reggie Miller and Mark Jackson rounded up their Indiana Pacers teammates for regular workouts at a health club on the city’s west side. The Pacers had almost perfect attendance that fall and winter and many thought the extra workouts would give Indiana a major advantage when the season resumed.

The season before the lockout, Indiana was .707. After the lockout, they were .660 (33-17). In the next years, they were .683, .500, .512.

They never recovered from the horrible mistake of practicing during the lockout.

That wouldn't have anything to do with Reggie Miller getting older, losing Antonio Davis, or Rick Smits retiring... would it?

It would, but all those things happened due to practicing during the lockout.
